My ego was a need that I have for security/fluidity (desire to be many different things), my alter ego would be something that is artificial and fixed, a clear idea that I want to be but am not.

This alter ego can be imagined through a person in front of their boudoir spraying perfume. The sensuality behind this scene, the brief moments of entrancement as the perfume is released.
Despite their stressors and insecurities, one feels sexy in that moment.

Branch*, Priti Tayal, Carla Triplett Columbia University, New York, USA Abstract A multi-ethnic sample of 248, ages 13–26, was used to examine the effects of age, gender, and ethnic group membership on ethnic identity and ego identity scores. Subjects were recruited from college and public schools in a large northeastern metropolitan area. The multigroup ethnic identity measure (MEIM) was used to assess ethnic identity and ego identity status was measured by the extended objective measure of ego identity status (EOMEIS). An age by ethnic group design was employed. Consistent findings of significant ethnic group differences in levels of ethnic identity were observed. Age and ethnic group were found to contribute differently to ethnic identity and ego identity status. First, Unity does not tell a person what to think, how to define God, or what creeds to accept. Unity seeks only to teach one how to think—how to pray—so that a person can formulate his/her own understanding of God. Second, is a rational explanation of heaven and hell. In mainstream Christianity, heaven is a glorious kingdom located somewhere in the sky where one goes after death if he/she behaves and accepts Christ. Hell is the firey underworld for sinners. For me, both notions have always sounded improbable (and the latter—not very appealing). Instead, what Unity teaches is that the Kingdom of Heaven—the Kingdom of God—is within, and the extent to which we are attuned to and live from our Divine Center, we are in heaven. Likewise, the extend that we are living accordance with the dictates and fears of the ego—we are in hell. Sin is simply our failure to follow our own inner Christ. That interpretation of heaven and hell made a great deal of sense, but I found myself wondering, “What is the role of the ego in all this? It's seeks pleasure and avoids pain. Simple basic instinct that we are born with. Next we have the ego, The ego is based on the reality principle and is in our preconscious. The ego understands that other people have needs and desires and that sometimes being impulsive or selfish can hurt us in the long run. Its the ego's job to meet the needs of the id, while taking into consideration the reality of the situation. Then we have the superego, The superego is divided into two parts; ego ideal and conscience. The ego-ideal is what we aspire to, a standard of good behavior. The conscience is our inner voice, it tells us when we have done something wrong. The superego is either a source of rewards, that is feelings of satisfaction and pride, or of punishment, feelings of shame or guilt. The demands of the "id" (I want it and I want it now) and the demands of the superego, (no it's wrong) are often in conflict with each other. A verbal sentence completion test is implemented to help the participant understand more about which one of the nine stages of development she may be experiencing at the time and what she needs to do in order to move on to the next stage. Each stage explains what level of maturity, acceptance, and understanding one may be in at the time of test completion. They also help the individual understand their internal feelings about environmental factors surrounding them and how these factors form the ego. Loevinger notes that not everyone reaches self-actualization and many may be stuck at certain stages. Stage one – The Pre-Social and Symbolic Stage: Because this stage occurs at infancy, it is not as understood as well as other stages because the child is non-verbal and unable to complete the sentence completion test.
