Collaboration Worksheet

Write a 100- to 150-word response to each of the following questions:

• What are the advantages of having diversity in a collaborative learning environment?

I like being about to talk to different people all over the world and hearing their experience. I think that is really helpful in the learning world because I don’t feel like I’m talking to made up people, its actually real life and real problems and real success. It also makes it a challenge to have a conversation because when you write something and someone writes back you feel compelled to do the same and it actually makes you think about the question and it’s not just home work anymore. Its meeting new people and bettering yourself as a person and bettering your communication skills.

• How might factors such as diversity, attitude, learning, and work styles affect collaboration?

Well I think that work style affects collaboration more than any of the others, because some people work better by just doing the work and not having to collaborate with other people. I had to get use to speaking with the other students. I have noticed that some of the other students are old and feel that they have to be in the parent roll and I sometimes have to bit my tongue because I don’t live with my parents I don’t want someone being bossy like my mother while I’m trying to learn. The diversity , I think it helps because it introduces us to people all over the world with different lives and it give an insight to the a bigger picture.

• How does personal responsibility influence the work and success of a group?

If you don’t do your part in a group activity then there won’t be any success. If you don’t do your job than people think that you don’t have any responsibility. It also makes people think of you in a bad way because you…...

I believe that the advantages of having diversity in a collaborative learning environment are endless. I think that it is really enlightening to have someone with completely different social and cultural identities- we all need to be “taken out of our box” at times. It is too easy to generalize opinions of others and other things, and not acknowledge others thoughts and opinions. Throughout everyone’s differences, we are all surprised to learn that we really aren’t all that different. I also like that in an online setting; we aren’t able to judge people prematurely, which gives us a more open experience. As much as we all hate to admit it- we do judge people. I have learned to take all aspects of someone into consideration, and I enjoy learning and understanding people in their own different ways. I was once challenged with an assignment on reflection- the idea was to look at everything and everyone as grey- kind of like watching television on an old black-and-white set. I remember initially thinking, “This will be so easy!’’ and how silly it seemed. Once I started, I realized that we subconsciously narrow things down in our minds before they are even considered. When everything appears the same, it is treated with a different attitude and...

First, save this file to your hard drive by selecting Save As from the File menu. Click the white space below each question to maintain proper formatting. Hint: Pay attention to the units of measure. You may have to convert from feet to miles several times in this assignment. You can use 1 mile = 5,280 feet for your conversions. 1. Many people know that the weight of an object varies on different planets, but did you know that the weight of an object on Earth also varies according to the elevation of the object? In particular, the weight of an object follows this equation: , where C is a constant, and r is the distance that the object is from the center of Earth. a. Solve the equation for r. In order to solve for w=cr^-2 you first have to multiply by r^-2. The equation then changes and now looks like this wr^-2=c. We then have to divide by W on both so we now have r^-2=c/w. We now have to get take away the square root , so now the square root of c/w=r b. Suppose that an object is 100 pounds when it is at sea level. Find the value of C that makes the equation true. (Sea level is 3,963 miles from the center of the Earth.) For this equation it would look like this; w=C(R^2) w= 100 pounds, and R^2=3963^2 while C=__. Now we just simply plug these numbers into the equation 100=C(3963^2).......

...Associate Level Material Appendix B Goal Setting Defining Goals Goals are outcomes or results an individual wants to achieve in a stated period of time. Goals require prioritized steps for successful achievement and must align with an individual’s priorities. Misaligned goals often lead to unfulfilled outcomes. Putting goals into writing and reviewing them daily allows the goal setter to more effectively visualize the accomplishment of the goal. Goals can be set in various areas of life, such as career, personal development, family, friends, finances, health and wellness, leisure time, physical environment, and spirituality. Goals can also span a variety of time periods. Some goals can be long-term: 3 to 5 or more years. Others are midterm: 1 to 3 years. Still others are more immediate and short-term: 1 to 12 months. Benefits of Goal Setting Creating goals provides structure and purpose for personal, academic, and professional activities. Individuals who use effective goal-setting strategies report that they experience less stress and anxiety, concentrate better, perform better, and are more satisfied in their work and personal lives. SMART Goals For goals to be effective, they must include action words that explicitly describe the desired outcome. Effective goals also include the following SMART elements: • Specific: Specify, in detail, exactly what is to be accomplished. Vague goals do not provide enough structure for achievement. In addition,...
