One paragraph BRIEF summary of the article:
This article is basically talking about how our perception affects our performance in different sports like soccer, basketball, or golf.
Psychology professor (as well as March Madness basketball fan) Jessica Witt conducted a research on how our perception affects our performance
and confidence while playing sports. To test her hypothesis she used golf and tested different people’s performance by creating illusions to
make the size of the ball look either bigger or smaller. Her tests concluded that the people who imagined a bigger hole did better than the
people who imagined it smaller, as the illusions enhanced their performance psychologically. The article proceeds to elucidate further on the
subject as well as provide counter arguments to Witt’s theory.

Article Review #4: - Trends in Non-Store Retailing

...Article Review #4: - Trends in Non-store Retailing Companies in the Non-store Retailing business sell retail products through methods other than a physical store front. This type of retail includes online auctions, catalog/mail order retailers, temporary stands, door-to-door sales, flea markets and in-home parties. Telephone solicitation (telemarketing) and TV infomercials are also included in this industry. Non store retailing is patronized to time conscious consumers and consumers who can't easily go to stores or compulsive buyers the 21st century shopper. Most if not all non-store retailers offer consumers the convenience of buying 24/7 and with delivery at location and time of their choice. Over the last several years, non-store sales are out growing sales in retail stores. Network Marketing In layman's terms, in the normal marketing system, the manufacturer supplies the products through the middlemen such as brokers, wholesalers and retailers. These middlemen add their establishment costs and their own margin of profit or commission on the price. This increases the price by approximately 45 per cent. The consumer therefore gets the product at atleast a 45 per cent markup from the manufacturer's price. In network marketing, these middle men are eliminated. A person is invited to join and become a member (also called Consultant) of the network marketing company. This person in turn invites many more people to join under him to form a group. These group members,......

4 Home and Garden Articles

... 4 home and garden articles I grew up in a farmland because my parents were farmers. Since my childhood, I emulated my parent’s advice on being self-reliant and I took farming passionately because right from a tender age I was able to raise my own chicken and made a few dollars when they were mature. For me the ability to cater for my personal financial needs without bothering my parents motivated me to manage my own poultry farm even as I attained adulthood. My journey to make this dream a reality started when my father rewarded me with a single hen as a sign of his gratitude for my contribution to his farm. Since then, chicken became my pet and rearing poultry became my hobby. This goal was further motivated by my agriculture lessons in class were I learnt best practices for rearing poultry. As at now, I have over 5000 chicken, more than half are layers and the rest are broilers. Besides chicken, I rear ducks, geese and turkeys, all of which are profitable. Chicken farming has become my livelihood and I do not intend to look for formal jobs. Benefits of keeping poultry on your homestead 1. Egg production If you are a non-vegetarian as I am, then you definitely consume eggs unless they give you some abdominal discomfort. Keeping poultry on your homestead, specifically layers gives you a chance to enjoy eggs without limits. Eggs have numerous healthy benefits in your body because they contain vital mineral elements. I keep White Leghorns for egg production and their......

...Scholarly Article? Meriam Library  California State University, Chico Many instructors at the college level require that you use scholarly articles as sources when writing a research paper. Scholarly or peer-reviewed articles are written by experts in academic or professional fields. They are excellent sources for finding out what has been studied or researched on a topic as well as to find bibliographies that point to other relevant sources of information. How can you determine if your article is scholarly and/or peer reviewed? 1. Consult the chart. The chart on the back lists the general criteria for determining what type of periodical article you have. Keep in mind that some articles do not meet all the criteria. When in doubt, consult a Reference Librarian or your instructor. 2. Limit your database search to academic, scholarly, or peer reviewed journals. Many databases allow you to limit your search to academic, scholarly, or peer reviewed journals (terminology varies between databases). Although limiting provides a preliminary filter, not all articles within a scholarly journal are scholarly, so you will need to evaluate each article individually against the criteria in the chart. 3. Ask a Librarian We can help you find a scholarly article or determine whether an article you have is scholarly. Get help in person at the Reference Desk on the 2nd floor of the library, or chat online at the Research Station http://www.csuchico.edu/library, or text to......

... JAMES HESKETT James Heskett is a Baker Foundation Professor, Emeritus, at Harvard Business School. ORIGINAL ARTICLE The annoying employee who makes his numbers while alienating those around him will gain needed attention in the coming months with at least one book about to be published on the subject. This is an age-old problem that most managers handle badly. You know the story by now. It concerns high-performing employees, known by some as "stars" and by others as "destructive heroes" or "brilliant jerks," those who generate a great deal of business while creating problems for colleagues. They are demanding to the point of being abusive, they make promises to clients that their colleagues cannot meet, they take too much credit for success, and they generally are unable to adhere to commonly shared values of members of the organization. The management response to this kind of situation is too often ineffective. By their own admission, their managers are reluctant to rock the boat as long as the numbers continue to be good. In doing so, they underestimate the costs to the organization, including the loss of other talent. And when they do act, they do so much too slowly, often after most of the damage has been done. Jack Welch has written about the phenomenon of what he calls "jerks" or "bullies" from his own experience. At GE they were referred to as a "Type 4" manager, "the person who delivers on all the commitments, makes the numbers, but doesn't share the values."......

The Article

...Tell-Tale Heart’ by Edgar Alan Poe,” which was rewritten by an unknown author, it explains how the narrator is a “paranoid schizophrenic”(pg. 1). The article explains how Edgar Alan Poe was obsessed with “death, madness, and troubled human relationships” (pg. 1). The narrator is definitely a man caught between normality and psychopath. Further more the young man goes on to “spy on the old man every night for a week” (Poe 3). In doing this, the young man is letting his “id” take over his thoughts and actions. Chua brings up a good point in “An overview of ‘The Tell-Tale Heart,” stating that the “old man and the young man are one in the same person” (Chua 2). This is a good point because the young man is “spying on the old man for a week, opening the door each night a little at a time” (Poe 5). This brings a little light to the situation explaining why the old man does not catch the young man spying on him. The main reason for the young man spying on the old man is because “the diseased eye that fell upon him” (Poe 2) When spying on the old man the young man “cracks open the door little by little each night” (Poe 2). When the young man cracks open the door he has a “lantern” in his hand and covers it to where only a “little bit of light” comes out just so the young man can see if the “old man sleeps with his diseased eye open” (Poe 4). May explains in “The Tell-Tale Heart: Overview,” that the old man and the young man are “one character psychically split in half” (May 2).......
