Basketball: The teaching of the game.
Basketball is one of the world’s most popular sports. Basketball is a sport played by two teams’ and their task is to shoot the ball through a circular rim, with a net hanging from it. Each team has five players and they play on a rectangular court having two baskets on both ends. The regulation basketball hoop consists of a rim or basket attached to a backboard. A team scores by shooting the ball through the net. A player scores 2 points if they shoot the ball and make the shot within the three point line and 3 points if they shoot the ball outside the three- point line. In order to play the game, players have to know the rules, the fouls of the game, and the regulation of the game.
First, there are rules that all teams must follow to make the go smooth. The ball advances on the court either by dribbling while running or walking, or by passing from one player to another. Dribbling means to bounce to bounce the ball with your hands. However, it is against the rules not to dribble the ball while moving, to double dribble, or to carry it. Double dribbling means to hold the ball with both hands and then dribble the ball with both hands. A player should not step with both of their feet or this will be called traveling. If the player’s hand is under the ball and then they start to dribble the ball, then this will be carrying. A player cannot hit the ball with their fist or kick the ball with their foot. If a team passes half court then they cannot go back pass the half court line, and if they do so then they will lose the ball and the other team will gain possession of the ball. If a player violates these rules then it will lead to the opponent possessing the ball.
Secondly, fouling is a common aspect of basketball. Fouls can be disruptive physical contact or personal foul…...

I love to watch and play the game, basketball is a very entertaining sport and can be played by anyone. Basketball has many negative and positive things about it based on my opinion. Basketball is known as a good pastime in many people’s eyes but can also be seen as a passion for many others. Basketball in my opinion the best thing I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun rather than sitting on the couch all day playing video games or watching television. One reason I love basketball is because you need only yourself to play the game or, you can play with teammates. I prefer to have others to play with rather than just playing alone. To me there is not only one word that I can describe basketball. You meet tons of people and you are able to play with your friends for hours without getting one thought of boredom. One thing I love about basketball is that people have many different styles of play. There are styles such as a passer, playmaker, shooter, defensive player, and dunker or highflyer. When you play basketball you feel much more confident and makes you not care much about how others think about you. When I possess the ball in basketball I have the mentality of being the best and no one could stop me.......

Study If Playing Sports Games Specifically Nba2K12 Helps Basketball Athletes

...study The question in this research: Is playing computer games affect the student’s study habits? But then choosing only a specific title which is, “Effects of playing NBA2k Series to basketball athletes”, (how this affect their play in real basketball games). Basically the concern is when these athletes play NBA2k, seeing the moves of the players in that games and applying these specific moves or strategies to the way the athletes play basketball. This could also be applied in other sports like FIFA games. Statement of the problem Computer games are growing fast today. We all see that children are mimicking some games into their real life situations in either good or bad way. One example could be the game “ The Sims” in which people use their imaginations in building their dream houses in the game and maybe some may copy the blueprint of the structure and put it into reality. Will the game NBA2k be like the game Sims that athletes may use the play style of the players in that game in applying it to their play style on the way they play their games? Significance of the study The research is for the athletes who play basketball and for the people who are interested to learn playing this sport, by applying what they learn from the game. This might help the athletes improve their skills and strategies in their actual games. Assumption of the research The expected result of the research is that: playing the game NBA2k really helps athletes improve their play......

...Confusing Basketball Rules When taking a charge, does the defensive player have to be still? Basketball rules state that if a defensive player is in a legal defensive stance or position, the defensive player has the right to move in order to maintain his legal positioning. A charging call can be made even if the defensive player has one or both feet off of the ground when the offensive player makes contact with the defensive player. The basketball rule of “verticality” applies here. If a defensive player jumps straight up to block a shot and the offensive player jumps into and creates contact with the defender, an offensive charging call could be made. (Therefore, it is more important if a defender is squared up and contact is made to the defender’s chest than if the defender is moving.) Is a dribble illegal if it goes over the ball handler’s head?  Basketball rules states if the ball handler doesn’t “palm” the ball or place their hand under the ball, there is no dribbling violation. There is no basketball rule or restriction on how high a dribble can go. Is reaching into an offensive player's area a foul? If a defensive player “reaches in” to attempt a steal or distract the offensive player they are guarding and doesn’t create any contact, no foul should be called. Reaching in isn’t necessarily a foul until contact is created. Basketball rules state that the foul isn’t called reaching in, but holding or pushing. Is over the back a foul when rebounding a......

...Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court. The objective is to shoot a ball through a hoop 18 inches (46 cm) in diameter and 10 feet (3.0 m) high mounted to a backboard at each end. Basketball is one of the world's most popular and widely viewed sports.[1] A team can score a field goal by shooting the ball through the basket during regular play. A field goal scores two points for the shooting team if a player is touching or closer to the basket than the three-point line, and three points (known commonly as a 3 pointer or three) if the player is behind the three-point line. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but additional time (overtime) may be issued when the game ends with a draw. The ball can be advanced on the court by bouncing it while walking or running or throwing it to a team mate. It is a violation to move without dribbling the ball, to carry it, or to hold the ball with both hands then resume dribbling. Violations are called "fouls". A personal foul is penalized, and a free throw is usually awarded to an offensive player if he is fouled while shooting the ball. A technical foul may also be issued when certain infractions occur, most commonly for unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of a player or coach. A technical foul gives the opposing team a free throw, and the opposing team also retains possession of the ball. As well as many techniques for shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding, basketball......

The Basketball

...obstacle, the most difficult one of my life. My entire life is dedicated to the wonderful sport of basketball. My junior year I worked harder, and more ambitiously than I had ever worked previously. I worked extremely hard on my skills, and game to assure my spot as the starting point guard on my high school’s varsity team. When the season came around things were looking just as I imagined. I was the starting guard on the team, the leader, and the player who made things happen on the court. I proved my abilities, dedication, and why I should have stayed in the position, I was in as the starting PG on varsity. Unfortunately, in my head basketball coaches eyes I was not yet ready to be a leader on his team. He told me that I needed to develop some better leadership skills, and work on my attitude. Then he dropped the bomb on me. He told me he was moving me down to JV for my junior season so I could take that team over and become a grand leader. That literally broke my heart, I knew I worked harder than everyone on that varsity team, well I actually knew I worked harder than every soul in the basketball program. I felt like I was stripped of what I deserved and betrayed. I felt that way because, in my eyes, not only was I a great leader, I was THE leader. I also invested more time, and took basketball more seriously than the other players. I never missed a practice, or any basketball events that my school held, even if they weren’t required. My head coach told me not to take it......

Basketball

... Who is known world-wide as the inventor of basketball? His name is Dr. James Naismith, he was born in 1861 in Almonte, Ontario. Most people wonder were a young man would think of a game like basketball. The concept of basketball was born from his school days in the area where he played a simple child's game known as duck-on-a-rock outside his one-room schoolhouse. The game involved attempting to knock a "duck" off the top of a large rock by tossing another rock at it. Naismith went on to attend McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. In 1891 (after serving as McGill's Athletic Director) Naismith moved on to the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts where the sport of basketball was born. In Springfield, Naismith was faced with several problems. One problem was making a sport that was suitable for play inside during the Massachusetts winter for the students at the School for Christian Workers. Naismith wanted to create a game of skill for the students instead of one that relied solely on strength. He needed a game that could be played indoors in a not too big, but not to small space. The first basketball game ever was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals. Naismith made a set of thirteen rules for his new "basketball" game: 1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands. 2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist. 3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must......

...Basketball Game The story begins when Allen and his parents are moving from Arkansas to Nashville because of his Father, who works as a preacher. His father has to preach in Nashville instead of Arkansas, which is the reason why they are moving. When they arrive in Nashville, it is still summer holidays and therefore there are still 2 months until the school begins. These summer days, Allen spends most of his time reading and drawing pictures of buildings. One day when Allen is sitting in the front yard, the girl next door, Rebecca, sits beside him and starts a conversation. This is the first time ever Allen talks with a white girl, therefore he is not quite comfortable under their conversation and does not really know how he has to behave in front of her. When she finally left, Allen felt relieved and hopped no one had seen them together. As time went by, they started spending more time together, but they were seeing each other on the sly so no one could see them. In their society it was deeply unacceptable for a white girl to talk to a black guy, which is the reason why they only met secretly. Unfortunately, one day they get busted. After that, their parents had to give them permission to see each other, but only in non public places like Allen’s backyard, where they could play basketball. By time, they start falling in love with each other. When Rebecca’s father realized that they were falling in love, he decided to sell their house and move to another......

...dramatically; playing basketball is my favorite thing to do and brings joy to my life and family. I have never been good at the whole school thing. I am not an amazing A+ student, and didn’t have the greatest relationship with my family until something great happened. When things aren’t going right I always have basketball to motivate me In high school I was not the best student. I didn’t take it seriously, but that all stopped when I made the varsity basketball team. I didn’t want to disappoint my teammates and wanted to be eligible to play. My freshmen year I couldn’t play in two games because I had bad grades. It was the worst feeling I have ever had and from that point on I was going to do everything I could to get good grades. Basketball motivated me to work hard in school and got me through my four years in high school. I wanted to be that student athlete and not the girl that is good at basketball but cant play because of her grades. If I didn’t play basketball I would not be in college right now. I had to sacrifice a lot of things for basketball such as hanging out with friends. I made a lot of friends playing basketball and my high school team was like my second family to me. We were together all the time. We kept each other from getting into trouble and had each others back. Being so close to my teammates forced me to stop hanging out with the friends that are always getting in trouble and not making the right decisions. Playing basketball has made me realize......

...Basketball is a sport of agility and endurance that develops by hand and eye co-ordination. Dr. James Naismith of Ontario, Canada invented the game in 1891. Basketball even overtakes baseball as the unofficial American pastime. Though the basketball rules have been modified over time, the essential principles remain the same. The team that has the ball is the offence and the opposing team becomes the defence. The offence has to get the ball through the opposing team’s basket as much as possible and the defence has to stop them from doing so. That’s the basketball rule in a nutshell. The offence positions the players to take a shot, that is, throw the ball through the hoop. In the defence positions players block these shots. The dimensions of the basketball court and other equipment vary based on the level of play. An organised basketball game has two teams consisting of 5 players each. Though the team can have more than five players, only five of them are allowed on court at a time. Reserve players basketball can enter the game through a process called substitution. There are five positions on a traditional basketball team: point guard, shooting guard, power forward, small forward, and centre. Traditionally, home teams wear light coloured jerseys with their mascot name, while the visiting teams wear dark coloured jerseys displaying the name of the city or college. The ball can be thrown or passed in any direction, but once die ball has crossed mid-court, it......
