SIESTA KEY BEACH, MY FAVORITE LOCATION

Of all the places that I have visited, there has never been on that has made me feel as relaxed and content as I do at Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. With the sound of the Gulf waters crashing on the soft white sand, the warm sun beating down and the squawking sounds of the seagulls flying overhead, I could sit there for hours. The impact that sitting on Siesta Key beach has on my sense of touch, smell and sound, is one that I have yet to experience on any other beach. I remember the first time I went to Siesta Key Beach with my family. I was about 10 years old. I remember feeling overwhelmed with excitement as I stood on the white sandy beach and looked out into the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The sand is baby powder soft and feels wonderful on your feet. It as if you are getting your own personal pedicure with every step you take along the beach. The sand never gets hot which makes it pleasant to take long walks along the shoreline. The first time I went swimming in the Gulf of Mexico I was amazed at how warm and salty the water was. It was like taking a bath in the world’s largest bathtub. There are several outside showers along the beach for you to rinse off the dried salt left on your body after your swim. The sweet smell of the gulf waters reminds me of when I use to live on a lake. Those were such happy times for me. When I am not basking in the sun or swimming in the salty waters of the gulf, I like to walk along the shore in search of sea shells. Because there is a sandbar that reaches out into the gulf, you can walk through the shallow waters and find many different types of shells and even the occasional sea sponge. The shells are so beautiful and fun to collect. Unfortunately Siesta Key Beach did have one downfall. That was the many seagulls that swarmed the area.…...

The Beach

...The, enclosed, beach is silent. The bright ball blinds you as it emerges; it rises like a yellow lollipop on the distant horizon. Crashing against the shore, small waves wash the night's debris onto the land. Untouched golden sand covers the floor as far as your eyes can see. Soothing, a gentle sea breeze rustles through your hair. Beach shops prepare for their day of excited costumers bustling in and out of their small seafront shops. Opening their doors, they bring out all of there beach products looking out to the sea you can see the large cruise ships on the worlds edge. Abandoned, nothing there apart from a few sea gulls pecking at the rubbish left by yesterday's visitors. Empty crisp wrappers, chocolate wrappers, ice cream papers and half eaten cones scatter the yellow sand. Young children stumble onto the moist sand, with small buckets and spades in their hands, they shout and talk in excitement. Damp sand is forced between their toes. Straight away, the young children put on their swimming costumes and are smothered with thick white sun screen, to protect them from the bright sun. Children running towards the shoreline; their parents struggle onto the sand, loaded like camels with everything they will need for their day. Sandwiches, cold drinks, wind breakers, towels all bagged up and slung over both shoulders. A hot sea breeze rushes through the visitor's hair, as you stand there you can taste the salt in the air because it is so strong. The sound of the waves......

The Beach

...Miranda Poole 2/3/13 English 101 Descriptive Essay The Beach: A Relaxing Wonderland It is spring break, in the middle of March, my junior year. As I cross the state line into Florida, I picture the ocean as being a place of peace and serenity. It’s my first time visiting the ocean, and all I can think about is hoping it is as beautiful as the pictures I have seen of it. As I arrive to the beach with all my friends, the eagerness of seeing this peaceful place is rising. I can’t wait to smell the fresh salty air, feel the soft sand between my toes, walk along the breezy shoreline. As we approach the beach, the first thing I notice is the sky. As I look into the cloudless, cerulean blue sky and see the flawlessness of life; in the distance, rolling clear-blue waves crash into each other with such force as that of football players. The sky is breathtaking along with the sounds of the waves and the tide washing onto the shore. The water reminds me of crystals shimmering in the water with the sun reflecting off of it. As the sun sets, the sky turns into a pink hue with a bright orange sun going down into the horizon. We stroll on the beach, and my feet sink into the soft sand. I stroll along, and the grainy, slick, brown sugar sand pulls my bare feet under and leaves a perfect imprint. I pick up a handful and sift it from my palm slowly, feeling the grittiness of sand with each finger. The view down the beach of the white, but slightly brown sand was enough to make my knees......

...writting 09-07-13 The Beach Everyone needs a break in life. Chores, school, and work are all daily duties that people want to escape from. The beach releases me from all my responsibilities, so I try to visit the beach every summer at least once. I feel that all work and no play can be socially unhealthy. There should always be time for letup. Everyone needs to get out of work mode once in a while. My cousins enjoy the beach as much as I do, and my cousins always invite me to tag along with them. When I visit the beach, I can personally say that I always create new memories. This past summer, I only got the chance to go to the beach one time, but I still had an amazing time at the beach. The day I went to the beach was perfect. The sun was high in the sky, and the clouds provided just enough shade. The weather for the whole day was beautiful. The sand on the beach was warm to the skin. It felt as if I was walking on a bunch of pillows. As soon as I sat on the beach I completely buried my feet in the sand. The waves where flowing in because of the boat traffic in the distance. The sound of the waves were almost putting me to sleep as I laid on the shore. Many people play recordings of wave sounds to put themselves asleep at night, but the real sound of waves in person is extremely move effective. The water, the sand, and the sky was just exceptional. I could not dream up a better day. The setting of the beach was just right. The great part of the beach is people......

City or Beach

...Statue of Liberty standing still on the water. You walk down the street passing hundreds of little shops and restaurants; all the while you are taken aback by the breathtaking beauty of the city that you are gazing upon. Now, picture lying on the beach while listening to the ocean waves. The air is crisp and the smell of saltwater is bitter sweet. The locations being described are New York City and Long Branch Beach. There are many differences between these places, such as the kind of activities, clothing and equipments, and their pace of life. The first major difference between vacationing on the beach or in a city is the kind of activities you are able to do. While vacationing on the beach, the mind-set is to unwind life’s stresses while enjoying the warm touch from the almighty sun. The average beach vacation includes a wide range of activities, from relaxing on hot sand to catching waves in crisp ocean water to land and sea-based sports. Then there are long evenings of cool, breezy walks and hot nights on the dance floor. However, the most common activities while visiting the beach is mostly water related events such as sailing, swimming, and surfing. But let’s not forget the most sought after activity while visiting the beach, that is sun bathing. The simplicity of lying down on the soft, warm sand while the sun caresses you with its warm touch is wonderful. In the city, even if you are not mesmerized by the city's soaring skyscrapers and monuments, you will be blown......

The Beach

...Descriptive writng. The Beach The beach is a relaxing getaway. There are various things about the beach that stick into my mind. The three main things that stuck to me was the view, smell, and the sound. All the way from beauty of the ocean, how the colors in the sky blended with the motion of the water. I will always remember the sound of pelicans calling each other as they swooped just in front of the orange sunset to scoop the sea water in their flabby necks. Even the taste of the air mixed with the smell of the sand that just made every sense open wide. I will always remember this moment. It was the only time I have ever felt that I had no worry in the world. The view itself would make you never want to leave. The sky blended perfectly from a fire tangerine orange to a soft baby blue. In between the loudest light of red and the quietest shade of blue, lay the deep purple of a night sky waiting for it’s time to take over the sky. The motion of the water drew you in closer to the shining sun just above the water with the moon shining directly above you like a spotlight. The waves were calm with ripples in every direction possible. The tide pushed the shiny wet sand flat as a plate. The shadows of birds flying towards the sun made me think if they were never going to stop until they actually reached the sun. The smell of the ocean is what made this experience one of a kind. The fresh air that wafted in the air gave me the chills that ran up both my arms. The wet sand......

A Day at the Beach

...day at beach Everyone has a place where they go to escape all the pressures and worries of life. There is always that one spot that can soothe all your problems and troubles in times of stress. For me, the beach is the ultimate cure to all of my problems. While I am there, all of my obligations are suddenly erased. The day was warm and muggy; it was the perfect weather to go to the beach. The water was clear and a rich deep blue in color. Not a patch of seaweed in sight. The fine white sand is burning your feet as you hear the sound of the waves crashing and the cool sea breeze brushing by. I take a deep breath of fresh air and look at the surrounding of people soaking in the sun waiting to get in the water. I slapped on the sunscreen and packed up my gear and ran towards the water, little kids were building sandcastles and having sand fights. I dogged through them and at last I was running through the shallows of the water getting nearer to the in coming wave. I dove straight through the dumping wave, the cool water rushing down my body. I popped back up to the surface, relived that I was finally out of the warm weather and cooled off by the beautiful seawater. Later, my friends decided to join me and we played volleyball in the sand. Everyone brought snacks and later that night we also had a barbeque. After a while, we swam in the sea, which was cool and pleasant. I saw sailing boats in the distance and fishermen busy with their catch. Then we sat on the beach and......

Relaxation on the Beach

...Mercedes Harris Professor Nguyen English 1302-63460 24 January 2015 Relaxation on the beach One of the most interesting things that happen to me was going to Galveston, Texas. I usually like to try and visit all types of places. However, Galveston was completely different than any other place that I had ever been. I was so weird to see a place that was below sea level at some spots and above it to where you could see it in other. It is a beautiful beach there, I loved looking into the ocean and actually relaxing and being able to look out and see all the different types of activities that people do. I can remember the one other time I went to a beach it was completely different the sand was dirty and it has so much debris in it that was never cleaned up. However this time it was not any trash on the beach there were people who were actually surfing on the waves and lying on the beach sunbathing. It was so surreal it was like watching a movie that we have all seen as children about what an actual beach looks like. It was even more amazing that I was there to watch a dance competition for a group of young ladies who are beyond talented and I am proud to say that I know them personally. Personally, I have always thought of the beach as my hideaway spot that I would love to run away to if I was ever stressed or lost or scared. I feel that would be the place to take my mind off it and even just give me a chance to actually think about the best way to handle what is......

Beach House

...Erica Gakstatter Professor Peterson English 112 21 September, 2011 My Dream “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe” Anatole France. Growing up I’ve always wanted to live on a beach. Always watching movies and seeing pictures made me want that dream even more. To make this dream come true, I know I have a great deal of work ahead of me. Create a goal to get through school and get a good job, saving up all the money I can, to pay for this place that I want to call my dream home. While making my way through high school I would always tell my parents how I wanted a beautiful home on a beach. They always told me to go get good grades and go to school to get a good job. Through high school I really struggled to get the grades that I knew would get me somewhere. When I realized that I could push myself to do better in school I took advantage of that opportunity. I went out and found tutors and got the help that I needed to raise my grades. As time went on I kept succeeding and I was getting A’s and B’s instead of C’s and D’s. Even if my dream of living on a beach didn’t come true I would still want to look back and know that I did well in school. After getting accepted into college, I’ve never felt so accomplished. Cause I knew that I was actually going somewhere in life. Deciding what I wanted to study was a big obstacle. Following a bunch of different research I decided what I was going to study. I decided to......

The Beach

...The Beach The waves are crashing. The sun is setting. People are laughing and embracing under the sunset. I feel the sand squish slowly through my toes as I gaily walk down the shoreline of the Outer Banks. My all time favorite place to be is the beach. The weather at the beach is the most quarreling of all places in the world. One minute you are relaxing lazily on the sandy seashore reading a most invigorating book. I sit engrossed and allow the foamy mist from the rampant ocean spray your face lightly as though it was the touch of a feather. Off in the distance the sun begins to set in a sleepy unhurried fashion. It is the most beautiful sight I have ever seen. The colors swirl together in a muddled mass across the sky. Crash! Flash! The sky turns wild. Lightning hurls itself across what was once the tame uncaring heaven. Thunder booms while the atmosphere relieves itself of unwanted moisture. A violent explosion of heavenly emotion has replaced my peaceful evening. What could be more exciting than living in a place where your plans could be intruded upon so abrasively by a cause you cannot control? Sand castle building is the most enjoyable and childish activity available to people over the age of ten. Building sand castles is a very creative process. First, I have to decide what type of architecture I am going to construct my castle around. The architecture can be old-fashioned, contemporary, or even imaginary...

Walk on the Beach

...I walked down the beach today and realized WOW it’s really nice being retired. One day I decided to carry on with building a small block engine that could do 485 HP so that everyone on the beach would look at me as I drove by. I thought I was pretty cool by doing all the things I had done. Little did I know , they were watching me. They knew my move. These creatures that we refer to as aliens were watching my every step. I couldn’t step onto the baseball diamond without worrying about being raped with an anal probe. Then one night it happened; They got me. I remember it very vaguely because they used some sort of machine that erased my memory, but lucky for me I closed my eyes and had a wet dream. Man that was one really wet dream, I remember my pants were so sticky, I thought someone spilled icream on my pants. Then I realize that Icecream wasn’t a milky white clear substance. What could it have been? Did the aliens take my first time? Did they take my innocence? I couldn’t believe it. Yes I could. I didn’t want to believe it. The next morning I felt alone. I felt cold and ashamed. I couldn’t look anyone in the eyes. Kids started to make fun of me saying what happened loser? Why are you such a quiet guy now? You have some big ears you dumbo looking kid. That’s when I snapped. I punched the kids in the private areas and then was suspended and had to change schools. The End....

Beach

...The Beach On a hot summer day, you would go out to the beach to enjoy the view, the weather and the water. It was a sunny Friday afternoon when I decided to take my observations with me out into the world. I find that my imagination wanders off on its own and takes trips to the ocean without me, so I figured my body had some catching up to do. With a snap of my fingers and a short ride through the mountains. I found myself at my childhood playground, Santa Cruz Beach. The location is near the ocean side, steep rocky hills to the left and sand for days to the right. I ran down to the sand as fast as I can and without hesitation I laid my towel down upon the tiny grains and chips of rocks that the oceans might had turned into sand over the years. I took a moment to put my life on hold and gaze at what nature had to offer to me. I reflected upon all of the other places I could have been instead of standing with my toes curling in the warm sandy beach and smiled in appreciation of my situation. It was perfect weather out for a day at the beach. The clear sky didn’t have a single cloud to block the rays of the radiant sun. I could sense the feeling of ultra relaxation from the outstretched deep blue canopy above and the penetrating warmth that emanated from the sky and wrapped around my skin like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s night. Every once in a while a cool breeze would pass by and ease away the sun’s intense heat bath for brief moment. I could feel grains of sand...

The Beach

...The Nights at the Beach. It’s a place where my heart lays calmly with constant beat. As I sit and look across the ocean and see the moon’s reflection on its surface, I wonder if there is any other place that could makes me feel more at peace, unharmed and relax. This is my place where I can come to rest my mind, away from all the crowds and the mixture of noise in the city. If you don’t look at the ocean closely, pay every attention to it, you might never find its specialness like the way I do. When I sit in this very spot, I can see the beautiful sunrise and enjoy the romantic moon light under the sky when it takes place. Along in the distance not too far from here, a few people had said they could see a mysterious island under the moon light. Most people believe it was just an illusion, created by the effect of the moon light reflected off the water surface. They say if you come here usually, you can tell the amazing colors of the surface change throughout the year when you look at the water. From a nature deep blue in the winter to a pale green in the summer, the amazing view is one of the memories that will stay with me from now until I die. As the tide was rising up, the mist will be twinkling down my toes and the smell of it will take over me, bring me to a stage of mind where I can only hear the sound of the ocean waves surrounding me. This is the scent of the earth being born again. The water is the one thing that centers me to earth. It has a grounding aspect......
