1. The best method for Edward is to conduct an interview with all participants involved in each company. Even though this process may take longer than any other, this method is by far the most effective way to understand the business function and rules. This method also will ensure all participants involved have some input in the discussions concerning the new system. To ensure time is saved, Edward need to be organized by prioritizing functions requested checking off all requirements that were discussed making sure all information gathered will produce complete, comprehensive and correct requirements specification. 2. What Edward needs to do in order to acquire customer interest and participation, he should put together a survey or questionnaire about the service of the system where customers are able to check off the box that would benefit them as users of the system. By collecting data from customers, this will give the Brokers and Project Manager a better idea of how to meet the needs of their customers. 3. ...Introduction: The following three cases discuss information management within three very different types of organizations: (1) a national, online manufacturer/retailer of clothing and sportswear; (2) a major integrated healthcare provider; and (3) a global architectural design and construction firm. Consider each organization in terms of its information management needs at the following three levels of operations: • transacting – operational needs • management and control needs • planning, transformation, and innovation needs From this perspective, consider the following questions for each case study: 1. What information is critical at each level of operations? 2. How is this information collected/created? 3. What role(s) does either data-driven decision making (DSS systems) or knowledge management (KMS systems) play in each of these scenarios? 4. What are the challenges associated with accessing and leveraging business intelligence (BI) - either data-driven or knowledge-based within each enterprise? 5. What are the paybacks from the successful uses of BI? Case 1: CUSTOM MADE APPAREL AND INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE AT LANDS’ END [adapted from the article by Blake Ives and Gabriele Piccoli, Communications of the Association for Information Systems (Volume 11, 2003)79-93] A Kurt Salmon and Associates study in 1997 found that 36% of consumers were willing to pay 12 to 15% more for custom apparel and......

...Case Study 1 Identify and describe the problem in this case. Electronic medical record systems are proved as more efficient than paper providers, but it will cost a lot to build up a fully functional Electronic medical record keeping system, and there are also some disadvantages and difficulties for building EMR systems. 2. What management, organization, and technology factors are responsible for the difficulties in building electronic medical record systems? Explain your answer. There is no standard for EMR systems, people in hospitals need to change the way they work. Besides, building a new record keeping system can cost a lot, and it is more difficult to make it functional. 3. What is the business, political, and social impact of not digitizing medical records (for individual physicians, hospitals, insurers, patients, and the U.S. government)? Many smaller medical practices are finding it difficult to afford the costs and time commitment to upgrading their record keeping systems. EMR systems cost a lot from individual physicians and hospitals. Although stimulus money should eventually be enough to cover that cost, only a small amount of it is available up front. Small providers are less likely to have done any preparatory work digitizing their records compared to their larger counterparts. Implementing an EMR system also requires physicians and other health care workers to change the way they work. It will cost a lot to train them. 4.......
