Cultural Test Paper Globalization has taken business to an international level. With this level comes a responsibility to learn the cultures of those countries where an individual’s business may take them. What is acceptable in one country may be discouraged in another. Committing a faux pas can cost much more than embarrassment. If offended enough, the company who is being pitched to may decide to forego any business affiliation. It shows good intentions to learn at least the important culture highlights.

Japan

Performing business in Japan can be a little harrying, but as long as research is done into the business culture, it is ultimately not that difficult. Many things are important to the Japanese; saving face, non-verbal communication, respect, and hierarchy.

Saving face is a critical part of Japanese culture. They hate to cause embarrassment, and dislike saying no. In business situations, it is rude to put them in a position where they may have to say no, or to put them on the spot.

Non-verbal communication is important because it is possible to misinterpret one’s words, so to ensure they are getting the right message, non-verbal keys are essential. A presentation or argument would be much different in America than in Japan. A good example is that business meetings in America can get heated, but when finished, these happenings can…...

...RUNNING HEAD: ASIAN AMERICAN ADOLESCENTS Cultural Paper Asian American adolescents are a culture group, counselors seldom acknowledge in the counseling interventions. Asian Americans are faced with mental illness due to high academic achievement and refugee status. As counselors being culturally competence to Asian Americans can help assist them with their mental devlopement. They are a very distinct ethnic group that should be considered in the counseling profession. Asian Americans differ in methods and time of migration, language, social class, and religion. Many Americans still believe that the United States is the melting pot for all cultures not showing concern for cultures such as Asian Americans, which may find it to be difficult when integrated with other cultures. Counselors must understand the pressure that is place upon cultures, such as the Asian Americans when forced to integrate to the dominant culture. The United States is considered a free place for choosing the religion in which an individual wants to practice, but yet it seem rather biases against the Asian American populations. Counselors can help give back to Asian Americans what has been taken away from them for many years (religion). Due to counselors’ lack of knowledge and awareness of Asian American adolescents this culture is forced to integrate with the dominant culture, which may not be of their preference. The population of this group is......

We will test whether the three sample are from populations with equal variances. This type of testing is called analysis of variance or ANOVA (Lind, Marchal, & Wathen, 2004). The ANOVA test can be conducted with the intent of giving families information on where the best places are to travel on vacation based off gas prices, provide consumers more information on gas prices in different areas of the country for cost of living projections, and enable the gas industry to have additional information on regional pricing standards so they can ensure healthy competition. ...different from other creatures, different from one another, but more importantly, the things that make us the same. Timeline of Scientific and Technological Advances of The Ancients This list is meant to help put historical events in the context of human development. Many dates are approximate. • 13000-11000 BC---Estimated arrival of humans in America (probably aided by clothing and fire, if they came via Alaska). • 10000 BC---approximate end of last ice age. • 3000 BC--beginning of the Bronze Age, named for the first useful metal alloy. • 2700-2300 BC---Pyramids built in Egypt. First large states and cultures thrive in the river valleys of the Nile, Euphrates and Indus. • Egyptians invent hieroglyph writing, use papyrus (crude paper). • Euphrates cultures write on wet clay (afterwards dried), using marks from the end of a dowel. • 1400 BC (approx) Iron first produced by Hittites in what is now Turkey. • 1200 BC (approx) Trojan War. "Iliad" and "Odyssey" probably written in the century that followed. Continuing Our Study of The Ancients Various circumstances preserved ancient materials to modern times, affording us a glimpse into the ancient past that would otherwise be lost to us. The topics below are available for further inquiry in virtual museums.
