Project Plan for Word Processing Upgrade

...Project Plan for Word Processing Upgrade Project Plan for Word Processing Upgrade 1.0 Overview The Information Technology (IT) Services department of Boardman Management Group has decided to enhance the company’s word processing capabilities at all of its’ Baderman Island Resort locations. Baderman Island Resort currently consists of three hotels, a convention center, a pro shop, two gift shops, four restaurants, and a spa. All business units are managed by Boardman Management Group but operate independently. The IT Services department has determined that there are three different versions of the Microsoft Word software application being used by Baderman Island Resort and as many operating systems. Their immediate goal is to standardize the current word processing capabilities throughout the company, which could result in an upgrade to the existing hardware configuration and operating system. Boardman Management Group has decided to outsource this initiative to Smith System Consulting (SSC) because they do not have the in-house technical expertise to determine the most cost-effective path forward. They want to make sure the new solution seamlessly integrates with their existing software applications with the least amount of impact to performance and productivity. They would also like to keep the downtime needed to implement the new solution to an absolute minimum to ensure the company can respond adequately to the demands of their guests and customers during the......

Domain Name Systems, Iris and Email Addresses

...languages in web addresses, here comes another identifier, Internationalized Resource Identifiers, which making URI system more worldly and accessible. Previous Knowledge---Uniform Resource Identifiers Uniform Resource Identifiers, which also called URI, are used for expressing traditional web addresses. Web addresses indicated by URI are limited to only ASCII characters, such as lower and upper A to Z letters, and some symbols. Brief Introduction to IRI International Resource Identifiers is a superset of URI; it is a sequence of characters from the Universal Character Set, not only ASCII character set. RFC 3987, the syntax for IRI, this kind of approach defining a new protocol element was chosen instead of extending or changing the definition of URIs. This was done in order to allow a clear distinction and to avoid incompatibilities with existing software. For a simple IRI, it always contains three parts, the scheme, the domain name and the path that point to the location of the resource. Such as Figure 1 shows to us and following we will focus on the solutions for domain names. Figure 1: Internationalized Domain Names---IDN Internationalized Domain Names, such as 华人.公司.cn, is an Internet domain name that contains at least one label that is displayed in software applications. Internationalized domain names are stored in the Domain Name System as ASCII strings using Punycode transcription. The Standard for IDN---IDNA In order to fulfill the......

Email

...SITUATION WHERE EMAIL SHOULD BE USED IN CORPORATE COMMUNICATION Email is widely used as a form of business communication and overall it is a highly effective communication tool. Email is inexpensive, only requiring an Internet connection that is generally already present in the business. Although a printout of emails is possible, emails often stay as soft copies because archiving and retrieving email communications is easy to do. From the CEO to the janitorial staff and even temporary employees of the business can send and receive email communications. 1. Although it cannot and should not replace all face-to-face communication and others forms of communication, internal email usage can cover many areas within the business. Internal emails can function as an effective communication for sharing basic information, such as new cafeteria prices, paper use guidelines or security precautions, for example. Sending simple messages to an entire workforce with just the click of a mouse is fast, easy, convenient and can save the company money. If saved, the email can function as proof of a message sent or received, and is easily accessible to remind the recipient of pertinent information. Many businesses use email as part of its marketing efforts to share information with prospects, customers, and vendors. 2. Business emails should be concise and to the point. Pc Upgrades

...PC Upgrades Michael Ganoe I replaced the keyboard and mouse with the Logitech MK320 wireless ones. The approximate cost would be $40 plus tax. I also installed the device driver and software to be able to use the wireless keyboard and mouse. I choose the MK320 because I liked the looks of it and because of the relatively low cost. I unplugged the current keyboard and mouse from the pc. I used the provided cd to install the device drivers and software. Once installed I paired the keyboard and mouse with the pc. This allows easy use of the mouse and keyboard without the limitations of the wired version. I replaced the pc memory with the G.Skill Trident X Series 8GB. The approximate cost would be $75 dollars plus tax. I choose this memory card because 8GB is more than enough memory. I removed all media from the pc. I turned the pc off. I unplugged the power supply to the pc. I unplugged all attached cables from the pc. I lifted the plastic shield on the back on the pc stand. I used a flat-head screwdriver to remove the screw that secures the cover. I removed the cover. I then pressed outwards on the tabs on the right and left sides of the memory card to release it. I held the card by the edges and removed it from the compartment. I then oriented the new card with the notch on the edge facing forward and to the right. I held the card by its edges and slide it all the way into the slot pushing downward until it snapped into place. I put the......

Object Relation vs Standard Relational Systems Email

...Sent, 02/17/2015 8:00 AM From: Perry Seibles To: Jason Smith Cc: Madison Akers Subject: Object Relation vs Standard Relational Systems Hello Jason, this email is in regards to your information request on object relational and standard relational systems. First, to better understand either of these systems one must understand how the data models have evolved and how they have become an important part of everyday business. There will always be a need to improve the way data is managed. Since the 1960’s there has been a quest to improve this and since then there has been several models that made an effort to fix or improve the previous models errors. Prior to today’s filing systems companies used a manual filing system. This system was developed to handle and record the core task within a business. Just as the name states this is a manual type system, meaning everything was recorded with paper and pencil. For every file that is created using this type of system, will have to be file in a certain way. For record keepers within a company this task consisted of filing all files in a way that they can be easily retrieved. Generally all files are grouped together by categories or related topics i.e. employee records or accounts payable. As time progressed and demand increased for accuracy a computerized filing system was generated. One of the first models to be used was the hierarchical model. The basic logical structure of this model is portrayed by an upside down tree. In...

...software upgrade between all of Boardman’s locations. Boardman is comprised of three hotels, a convention center, four restaurants, two gift shops, a pro shop, and a spa. Each location operates independently of the other locations. However, all locations are managed by Boardman Management Group (BMG). Each location has different software and BMG would like to have a consistent way of communication and sharing documents between all locations. Smith Systems Consulting can solve and correct the issue of different software at different locations in the following way; 1. Provide a consistent software recommendation for all locations 2. Provide basic system requirements for the software upgrades 3. Provide direction on how all software can be implemented at the different locations. Consistent Software First, to address the issue of different software and different operating systems; it is important to have a consistent product installed at all locations. This will allow for easy transfer of documents between locations. There is no need to upgrade the operating systems at all locations if you use the same word software at all locations. It is important to have the same word software for compatibility issues. This can be addressed with a Microsoft Office software upgrade such as Office 2007 or 2010. Microsoft Office has the ability to save documents in older form to allow for compatibility with the newer versions of Office. Basic System Requirements The system......
