...ACME Super Duper Stereo Systems * 123 First Street * Phoenix, AZ 85040 * 520-777-1212 November 3, 2013 John Smith 123 Main Street New York, NY 10001-0000 Dear Mr. Smith: Refund Request of October 29, 2013 First let me begin by expressing our appreciation for your loyal business over the past 3 years. It is a pleasure to serve you. I have personally looked into the situation surrounding your request for refund. I found that you purchased the ACME Super Duper Stereo System from our company on October 25, 2010 for the amount of $1,000.00. I further reviewed with our warranty department head the guidelines of refund or replacement. I found that at the time of purchase, each stereo system that we sold automatically came with a 14 day money back guarantee as well as a 2 year warrantee. Because our company understands the importance of protecting your investment, we offered extended warrantee coverage to you both at the time of purchase and 10 days before the manufacturer warrantee expired. Both of these offers were declined. I regret that we are unable to offer a refund or free replacement at this time. The reasons for this are as follows: * The stereo is currently over 1 year past the warranty expiration date. * Extended warranty has not been purchased for the unit. * The manufacturer no longer makes your model of stereo system. Because of the situation, and our desire to continue our relationship with you, I have been......

...You have just been promoted from staff assistant in the Human Resources Office at Easy to Be Green to the new position of director of training, and your first project is to oversee the new reading, writing, and math courses. Recently, though, several department heads have complained that many employees do not know how to prepare and deliver presentations. You have begun to put together a short course on this, but the course will not be offered for a couple of months and only a small percentage of employees will be able to take it the first time anyway. You decide that, in the meantime, you will create an instructions document that can be sent to all employees immediately. For some employees, who just need a refresher, this document will probably be enough. For others, it will be an interim solution until they are able to take the course. Assignment 1. Drawing on ideas from the discussions and practice assignments as well as your own experiences in preparing and delivering presentations, compose a set of instructions on how to prepare and deliver an oral presentation to a live audience, that is, not for a presentation to be recorded for download. Follow these guidelines in writing your instructions. • Write the instructions in your own words, though of course you should draw on ideas and information that you have read and discussed for this course. If you do consult any sources apart from those used in the course, include citations throughout the document,......

Ethics Writing Assignment #3

...Kelsi September 7 2015 Writing Assignment #1 The Cultural Differences Argument states that “Different cultures have different moral codes. Therefore, there is no objective “truth” in morality. Right and wrong are only matters of opinion, and opinions vary from culture to culture” (Rachels 454). Based off of the moral philosophers, James Rachels and Russ Shafer-Landau, it is inferred that both think the cultural differences argument is unsound because of the contradictions within the argument. It is argued that there are some basic moral codes of right and wrong that are shared between cultures which is a contradiction made by both authors, but they share their support for the fundamental idea that right and wrong are matters of opinion, and opinions vary from culture to culture especially when going deeper into moral codes and specific situations that test these codes. When referring to ethical relativism and ethical objectivism, in my opinion, ethical objectivism is the stronger position because it is the idea that moral values and norms are universal and do not depend on societies, cultures or individuals. It is the view that rightness and wrongness of an ethical act does not vary from one individual to another and that there is at least one objective moral standard. Both theories are partly true because each person has their own mind and own personal morals, and people are not going to agree and conform with every moral code and think the same on what is right and......

Bad New Message

...November 3, 2015 Scott Rowan Alpha Kappa Psi Treasurer 40 Stratford Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45221 Dear Mr. Rowan: Thank you for your interest in staying at the Panama City 100 over your upcoming spring break. The Panama City area has a lot of exciting developments happening right now and in upcoming months. After a few unfortunate experiences at our hotel, a strict policy against accepting reservations from student groups was put into place. Without the normal amenities that a resort hotel might have such as a tiki Hut, DJ or lazy river, we have sought to cater strictly to business professionals and over-night travelers. Due to this strict policy, we are unable to provide your student group with the fifteen double rooms that you have requested. Although our hotel is unable to accommodate college students, it would be a pleasure to keep in contact for any future inquires you may have as a business professional later on. If you are still interested in visiting Panama City Florida, there are many other resorts in the same area as our hotel which I believe would provide you with a wonderful stay. The Palms Resort sits directly on Panama City Beach and includes free parking, WiFi, and a daily complimentary breakfast. There is also a tiki bar which provides refreshments and cocktails next to the ocean-view pool. Regardless of your final destination, I hope that you have an excellent Spring Break. I look forward to hearing from you for any......

Week 3 Writing Assignment

...COM/155 - UNIVERSITY COMPOSITION AND COMMUNICATION I Instructor: JEFF ARVIZU By In this paper we are going to discuss the importance of purpose, audience, tone, and content in academic writing. Without these four things to structure your paragraph it is hard to have a paragraph or paper that will hold your audience. The purpose of a paragraph is why the writer initially wrote the writing. What gives the writer purpose and reason for the paragraph is their ideas, stories, or information she wants to share. The purpose is the main cause for the paper to be written and without it there would be no call to write it. The audience is important to the writing because when writing a paper the goal is to develop a kind of relationship with the audience and dedicate the writing to the audience’s needs. To achieve capturing the audience’s attention so that they may relate to your writing it is important to know the audience’s background, demographics, and education. The audience is important to the writing because they are the reason to present and put the writing together so that it can be clearly understood. It is important to make sure the writing keeps the audience interested and the writing is significant so the audience does not lose interest. The tone of your paper effects the writing because it acts as the writer’s attitude regarding the written subject. The tone you use while writing the paper will show the audience whether the writing is funny, sad, somber, or......

...Bad News Message – David S. Moody From: David S. Moody, Sales Manager, Easy To Be Green To: Construction Manager, Greenfield Community College Date: 3 August 2015 Ref: Change in location of Venting Apparatus Sir and/or Ma’am, Here at Easy to Be Green, we pride ourselves on being the leader in installing energy efficient heating, cooling, and insulation systems. And since these systems are custom designed to meet you, the customer’s request, it involves a variety of Sub-contractors. And with this in mind there are time limits as to when we can make changes in the design. This morning one of my sales team, Chris, came to me with this problem, and I am writing to you so I can explain the reason as to why we will be unable to change the location of the venting apparatus, that you have requested. I understand that you had written to Chris requesting this change to accommodate a change in the campus’s overall design plan. There are two reasons as to why this Change cannot be accomplished; 1. There is a zoning restriction on this kind of Vent. I do understand that it is not widely enforced, but I feel as one of the leaders in this industry that it would not be beneficial for us to disregard this restriction. 2. Your request has come in late and there is only 1 month left before installation of the vents. This late addition was quoted to add $5000 dollars to the price of the contract. It is not practical for us to deviate from the written agreement. And......
