RE: Tuition Reimbursement Request for Business Communications Course

Having the knowledge and training to get a job done is essential for an employee to thrive and flourish in the workplace. It is for this reason that I am interested pursuing higher education in the field of Management. I would like to request tuition reimbursement for a course offered by Kaplan University called Business Communications. I believe that Expressions of Hue and its employees would greatly benefit from this particular course. This course directly correlates with my current position as a Payroll Specialist and Project Manager. As a Payroll Specialist and Project Manager (PSPM) for Expressions of Hue, I am responsible for communicating effectively with customers, co-workers and independent business owners during the bidding process through e-mail, letters, and memos on a daily basis. This memo represents the results of my research and findings as to why tuition reimbursement would be cost effective and efficient for the company.

What Are the Advantages?

Tuition reimbursement offers several important advantages:

• The skills learned and practice during the course will increase the level of productivity at work.

• By further expanding my education and obtaining an advanced degree our company’s professional image will stand out among the competition when working with existing and potential clients.

• This will also increase the company’s ability to recruit and retain great employees.

The greatest advantage to Expressions of Hue is the increased ability to recruit and retain great employees. By furthering our education, employees will obtain the skills…...

Alternative Funding

...Alternative Funding Alternative Funding Alternative Funding Researching, ingenuity, imagination, and creativity are the keys to getting funds other than traditional grants. Santa Rosa Philharmonic Youth Symphony can raise funds to ensure financial security from alternative sources. The youth will participate in the fundraising. Their contributions will be bringing different things to us to raise monies. We will have bake sales, raffling off different item like iPods, Digital cameras, car washes, carnivals, a $100.00 charity ball, different types of games for $50.00 or more. . We will get the community involved. We are aware funds are available through conventional sources even though some may be difficult to access. These types of funding include intermittent funding from foundational resources. Obtaining this type of resources involves making regular inquiries given that these funds are not widely publicized. Most projects that are small and local are available to health foundations, and religious groups. An additional way that we can generate funds is through establishing communal activity ventures. If the organization offer training for a fee to surrounding communities, and other organizations they will earn extra funds also. Contributors are motivated to give goods, like unused clothes, vehicles, which one can write off as a tax-deductible contribution. However, we can list all the previous donors by writing letters...

Collaborative Funding

...Hsm260 Collaborative Funding July 25, 2013 Bonnie Gusman The Phoenix Homeless Agency (PHA) is in the need of increased funding to further future funding toward job counseling for qualified clients. Regularly agencies get traditional contracts and grants; but the economy has increased the need and requires them to find other sources. The Executive Director and Board of Directors have begun their search by using the internet, other agencies, and community networking. They have agreed on, that there are three options that will yield revenue while keeping costs under control. This will result in money left over for their program; appealing to local government officials, contacting local businesses for donations, and holding a strong public donation campaign. Contacting local government officials the agency may access information about funding that is available to community agencies that are not related to federal or state traditional grants and contracts. These may include United Way, connections to people who might donate, grants from large out-of the area businesses and foundations, or city donations to help unemployment. They may also receive (employ, volunteer, students) grant writers who will be willing to help organization understand, locating, and the writing process, that achieve better results. Local businesses are often feeling the same......

Currently, all of this work has to get reviewed by our site lead to ensure that it is error free, which sometimes causes massive overhead and late submissions. There is a refresher Business Writing course taught at the local community college that addresses all the training required to accomplish our company’s writing needs. I am interested in attending this class and would like to request funding to do so. Currently, we have a Technical Education account that covers expenses for classes that help acquire technical certifications. I would like to extend the account to cover courses similar to this writing one because I feel it will directly benefit our technical communications. It will strengthen my ability to communicate effectively on the job by teaching me how to compose messages using a structured business writing process. Alternative Funding

...Alternative funding can go different ways for the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency. When coming up with ideas for alternative funding, PEACE must plan, have a positive attitude and be determined. Some steps taken in raising funds are critical such as readiness, research, reality, request and relationship between you and donor. The board of directors of the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency will provide readiness material to distribute to all staff, such as the fund raising plan, purpose and expectations. Research is the beginning of needed knowledge that helps lead to the right donors by reviewing their giving patterns and strategic areas of interest of these donors. A list of possible donors may be of local businesses old and new, volunteers near and far and the public. Reality is a step that indicates the best prospect. A strategy need to be formed for each prospect. For example, men, women and children have been affected by domestic violence. Education, health, awareness and some tender loving care of these victims will help promote healing for these victims. A local spa may be expressed to of the benefit of their donation short term and long term. An expression that a donation of a free mini spa treatment can boost stress relief of the victims and help promote advertisement as well. Another example may be to local shelters that are up and running that is always turning away people because lack of room, by offering a proposal of joining forces to meet the same goal......

College Funding

...1/31/14 College Performance-Based Funding Ohio is taking an aggressive approach to reshape the higher education funding system. The current system in place bases college funding on the amount of students attending the college. The new system Governor Kasich is trying to put in place would have funding be completely reliant on the colleges graduation rate, or “performance”. The system has been up for debate for years. This performance-based system has been attempted before inside the United States with minimal success. There is about a 350 million dollar budget that needs to be dispersed fairly throughout the state, and Governor Kasich strongly believes that funding based on performance provides enough incentives for colleges and students to strive for success. Kasich devised a committee of the higher education leaders of Ohio. The governor appointed E. Gordon Gee, former president of Ohio Sate University, to lead the charge to redesign the college funding system in Ohio. Roderick J. McDavis, the president of Ohio University, completely supports the new system in his article “Higher Education Funding: Getting the Complete Picture”. The title contradicts the article itself because McDavis gives far from “the complete picture”. The performance-based system put in place by Ohio representatives needs some adjusting before there could be any level of success. The performance-based system was designed so it would help acquire funding for all schools and McDavis......

Alternative Funding

...Alternative Funding HSM/270 October 22, 2014 Nicole Nightingale Alternative Funding Non-profit organizations such as PEACE Domestic Violence Agency, after receiving grants, may continue to struggle finding adequate funding options.. Grants are not always easily obtained and most donations are a one-time contribution. Discovering alternative methods for obtaining funding may take an ample amount of brainstorming for PEACE Domestic Violence Agency as grants will not cover the cost to effectively run the organization. Alternative funding methods are an excellent alternative. Examples of alternative funding options to explore include fundraisers, opening a thrift store, soliciting local businesses, selling commemorative bricks and/or benches, and holding special events in the community .Fundraisers may include bake sales and carwashes organized and conducted by the staff only to protect the identity of the victims. The agency can open a thrift store selling donated items and handmade crafts the victims will create within a therapy group and all the proceeds will benefit the organization. Special events can also be organized and can take place in the community. A talent search contest where the contestants pay an entry fee and the crowd will vote on the best performer. These events can also include information booths regarding domestic violence education and prevention and the specifics of what PEACE offers to victims and the community. Event goers can also have the......

...1 FUNDING A BUSINESS FUNDING A BUSINESS Christopher Roberts American Intercontinental University 2 ABSTRACT The Inventor has best found that sole proprietorship works best for him. Now, he has to face which option for funding will be best for him and his business. He will research three options: borrow money, sell stocks or license the technology. He will view different aspects of business financing and research a few different tools that are needed: stock market, financial management and investment banking. He will learn the meaning, function and the importance of each of them. Furthermore upon conducting all research and weighing all options of the three choices, he will have come to the conclusion that borrowing money will best suit him and his business needs. 3 Funding a Business An investment banker is a representative of a bank or financial firm whose job is to raise capital for corporations, boroughs, communities, cities, town and districts to just name a few. A few responsibilities of an investment banker are to organize and negotiate large financial transactions. They also take role of advisor to company clients and introduce beneficial financial ventures for their own firm. When a company goes public an investment banker will assist in creating value for an I.P.O., initial public offering. ...development records are kept in an Excel worksheet by the Training and Development specialist. The recruiters for Riordan Manufacturing each maintain applicant information for open positions. Employee resumes are kept in a central storage area, and an Excel spreadsheet is used to track the status of applicants. Riordan manufacturing has outsourced workers’ compensation to a third-party provider which keeps its own records. The current HR system that Riordan manufacturing maintains lacks a central employee database. Each individual manager keeps the files of the employees that are under his or her direct supervision. These managers, in addition to their duties, also have the added responsibilities of tracking FMLA absences and employee requests that fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The compensation manager keeps an Excel spreadsheet that tabulates the results of job analyses, salary surveys and individual compensation decisions. Employee relations specialists track information about complaints, grievances, harassment complaints and others, in locked files in their offices. This is evidence that the company maintains a disparate HR system which is not taking any advantage of the current IT tools and systems that would make their operations much more effective, efficient and save the company money. Specific project goals include:  Acquire a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to be situated at the headquarters. This would be a web-based portal......

Funding Memo

...Subject: Funding for Business Writing Course The purpose of this memo is to request funding for a business writing course being offered at Briarcliffe College. This course will not only benefit me; it will benefit the company in many ways by giving me the tools necessary to be more capable at doing my job. At the end of this course I should feel more confident in my ability to write in a more professional and understandable manner. In my position, I am constantly writing, whether it’s an email to an individual’s family or formal billing summaries for the state. How many times have billing summaries been returned from the state because they are not clear on how a service was run or because of senseless grammar errors? There have also been issues where a family didn’t understand a routine notice and call the supervisors for clarity. This does not create a very professional image for our company as a whole. Each time this happens it takes up valuable company time that can be spent on more productive tasks. Below are a few benefits the company will experience: Save time and money more productive and proficient business meetings A more professional image for the company. As I stated above, the course is being offered at . It will begin on October 15, 2011 and run till December 3, 2011. The total cost is $650; $500 for tuition, $75 for technology fees, and $75 for the book. This is a small investment to the future of this company. We will be able to set ourselves......
