The only gym available in my area that has group exercise classes is Gold’s Gym. I have always wanted to try yoga but thought that my size was too big of an issue. I finally got up the nerve to try Body Flow. I wanted to see how my balance and flexibility would hold up to an exercise that I didn’t believe I could do.
Body Flow is an exercise that combines three parts: yoga, pilates and tai chi. It was created by the Les Mills group, which is a group that specializes in fun, active group classes. Body flow was created to improve your joint flexibility and range of movement, increase your core strength, improve your cardio-vascular function, burn calories, reduce your stress levels, provide a lasting sense of well-being and calm, focus your mind and raise your level of consciousness. It does all of this while letting you exercise with friends which increases support. All three disciplines are each unique and have completely different histories yet share many of the same benefits.
Evidence of yoga has been found as long ago as five thousand years ago. Yoga has been through many changes over time but still keeps its main focus as an exercise just as much for the mind as for the body. It focuses on controlled breathing and slow movements to heighten self-understanding and to bring together the physical and emotional self. Yoga became popular in the US around the 1960’s. It has been shown to decrease the risk of many health problems such as heart disease, arthritis, pain and depression.
Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. He immigrated to the US in 1926 where he taught his exercises to many in the dance community. Pilates is a conditioning exercise that helps build flexibility, muscle strength and endurance in the major muscle groups. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing,…...

Organized Crime Group Analysis

...Organized Crime Group Analysis CJA/384-Organized Crime September 09, 2012 University of Phoenix Organized Crime Group Analysis Team Summary Clotilda: The article I read was about a modern day mafia getting captured, and exposed by law enforcement. The Mafia had committed many crimes including Gambling, Drug Dealing, Extortion, Murder, and Union corruption. The article also talked about early mafias, and original gangsters that made themselves most wanted criminals from under the names of their mafias. It addresses many criminal names like “Martin Angelina”, “John Gotti”, and “Joe Merlino”. But that’s beside the point; this article focuses on the Genovese Family, from Newark, New Jersey and their control over the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA). They compare this mafia’s legacy to the 1954 film classic “On the Waterfront”; they also tell us that individuals state that the Genovese Organization has been in the “nearly three-decades-long extortion of post workers”. The mobs point man was Steven “Beach” Depiro, he was 55 and a very reputed solider. The Mob members had to kick back their Christmas bonuses just for the organization to work. Even Union Leaders were charged in the 53 count indictment, the indictment also listed the salaries of 7 of the ILA members, their salaries ranged from $230,512 to $532,719. Many things have changed over time since Marlon Brando’s Terry Malloy went and stood up against of the corrupt union bosses in “On the......

Group Debate Analysis Paper

...Group Debates Analysis Paper 11/10/2013 XBCOM/275 Colette Franklin A debate is an art of reasoning and clever wording to persuade an audience of an individual or group opinion regarding the interpretation of facts and ideas (Gamble, 2012). Debates can be performed individually or in groups, there are both benefits and drawbacks to a debate and how they are performed. Group debates consist of more than two people on both teams; affirmative and negative. There are more benefits and drawbacks when analyzing a group debate. A group debate has its benefits and they are extensive, from expansive knowledge to comradely. When there is more than one person on a debate side all the different ways one opinions is expressed can make the viewpoint more clearly for any persons “sitting on the fence”. All of the opinions put together can give a broad spectrum of information on the given topic, allowing for each team member to see the topic in a different light. With more people on a team there is more knowledge that can pooled together to pick which bit of information is more relevant and can be a stronger hitting point for the opposing team, also each person can be given a specific job based upon their strengths to help the team collect information and deliver their statements. Not every person on the team will have come from the same education lesson or background so they can have different perspectives on how the topic is perceived. Knowing there is such a variety of......

Diet and Exercise Analysis

...Diet and Exercise Analysis Reynaldo Sanders SCI 241 1 December 2013 Jeff Mundt Diet and Exercise Analysis Submitting the information for the Supper tracker was difficult but eye opening. When I had to submit the information I had to do it per single item or as individual ingredients to one meal. This can be difficult if you ate a lot of fast food such as the case for me. I ate out a lot while my wife and daughter went home so the results of the tracker was somewhat startling. I noticed that my diet revolved around a lot of processed foods, preservatives and empty calories. Also this food was not as filling as say the steak I ate on Friday. My eating habits over the last week involved way more fast food than I was used to. Most times I would only eat it sporadically throughout the week but while my wife was out of town I ate out on a daily. I cannot sustain this type of eating as it can be costly both financially and health wise. Based on the website I knew that I was eating more fats than anyone should eat in a week. I know that I have to change from that eating style to more fruits and vegetables for snacks. Another issue is that I did not exercise over the three days that I had covered. I had already said that I wanted to get up in the mornings before work and job but this is a confirmation of some changes that need to be made. Based on the six classes of nutrients (water, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals). Based on my current......

International Group Analysis

...Team B American International Group (AIG) Analysis Mario Diaz MGT/521 September 22, 2014 Dr. Deb Lawton University of Phoenix Team B American International Group (AIG) Analysis Divisional structure efficiency review. Due to several changes within the company and with personnel, the current structure of our team has become inefficient in matters of operational needs and organizational direction. A proposal to make some changes at our divisional level has been recommended and the organizational structure within this division will be revamped in order to meet with current company goals as well as industry and consumer needs. Why is restructure needed? As it has become widely known, the Government bailout program which AIG was a recipient of an $82 billion loan, has had a significant effect on consumer confidence in our company. Top that with ill-advised bonus packages being provided to AIG executives and partners, really put AIG in the targets of consumer watchdogs and government committees. This was a low-time for AIG and since then we have made changes for the better and started to gain both consumer and government confidence in the direction that AIG has begun to take. AIG has begun to gain consumer confidence as it has again become a global leader in the insurance industry. This is evident because according to American International Group (2014), AIG generated, “$67,497,000,000 as of the end of calendar year 2013, and currently it has approximately 64,000...

Economic Analysis Exercise

...Economic Analysis Exercise I. Discuss how the two cases in this chapter illustrate the major theme of this text: Changes in the macro environment affect individual firms and industries through the microeconomic factors of demand, production, cost, and profitability. Drawing on current business publications, find some updated facts for each case that support this them. Drawing on current business publications and the two cases in this chapter it is prevalent that several changes in the macro environment have had an effect on the profitability of individual firms and industries. The text states that (Farnham, 2010 page 459), downturns in economic activity forced all the fast-food companies to develop new strategies. During this economic downturn McDonald’s was one company in particular that has developed strategies that were influenced by microeconomic changes. A great example is when McDonald’s entered the Chinese market they had to take into consideration consumer taste and acceptance in China. They had to decided whether or not to have the menu in Chinese or English and whether or not to take on the American menu or add more Chinese influenced menu items. Cost also played a part in the China market. Beef was much more expensive and so therefore could only reach a certain percentage of the people. Half of McDonald’s sales in China had been of chicken product with beef only making up 35 percent (Farnham, 2010). II. Compare and contrast McDonald’s strategies in China......

Group Analysis

...Group Debate Analysis Paper Kenneth McDougald XBCOM/275 April 12, 2015 Lorelle Davies Group Debate Analysis Paper There are many benefits associated with group debates, but there are also many drawbacks. Let us talk about some benefits first. Different perspectives are brought into play when there is a group involved. These perspectives tend to yield more information especially when they are coming from different positions of the argument. Diversity in the group can add to these different perspectives. Someone who was raised in an upper class family in the suburbs would have different experiences and views than someone from an impoverished inner city area. Debating in groups can also improve one’s communication skills. It also gives the debaters the opportunity to show off there listening skills. If one cannot properly listen to the arguments being presented or the questions being asked it will be difficult to present an argument that is substantive. Communication is something that is important in many aspects of business and personal communication. It is important to be able to communicate eloquently and respectfully. Part of respect is self control. Controlling one’s emotions in a debate is the best way to be taken seriously. There are also a few drawbacks to group debates and many of us have seen them first hand. Political debates are a great example. How many times have you seen a presidential primary debate with 4 candidates get away......

3 Day Exercise Analysis

...3-DAY EXERCISE ACTIVITY ANALYSIS Che Harper SCI 241 JULY 6, 2012 PROFESSOR LAWYER 3-DAY EXERCISE ACTIVITY ANALYSIS What are your current exercise habits? My current exercise habits are going to the gym at least three days per week for one hour. I focus primarily on cardio because it helps to burn fat. I complete thirty minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of strength training everyday because I want to lose and tone! I find it easier to go to a gym as opposed to walking around my neighborhood. I tried that and felt discouraged, not quite sure why. But the gym is working so much better for me. According to SuperTracker results summary page, what were your credited minutes, total expended calories, physical activity score, and physical activity assessment results? Provide a screenshot of your results summary. The amount of minutes I exercised for four days were 360 minutes. I spend 30 minutes on the stationary bike and 30 minutes on the elliptical machine. I burned 1148 calories daily or 4592 calories over the four days (not sure why the tracker did not include this). I guess I did it incorrectly because I was not provided a physical activity score or assessment results. I could not locate the SuperTracker results summary page. [pic] What everyday changes, if any, might you make to increase the amount of energy expended in your day-to-day activities? There are multiple things I could add to my day to expend more energy. For example, I could take the stairs, instead......
