Stay In Shape, Stay Healthy Are you exercising and eating right to stay healthy? More than half of America can answer this question with a “no”. According to statistics 35.7% adults and 17% teens are obese in America due to lack of exercise and unhealthy eating. Not exercising and eating poorly can only prepare you for the worse. Obesity, high blood pressure, and heart attacks are likely to occur to a person if they are not exercising and eating correctly to stay healthy. Obesity is the number one effect with most people in today’s society. More than 52.7% of people in America are obese, which is a very high percentage compared to other countries. But if being lazy is on the agenda instead of working out, obesity may become your new friend. Obesity is when the body doesn’t move around much so all the unhealthy food that goes into one’s body, is stored as fat. It is always wise to exercise after eating a meal, because it can help balance out the food you’ve just ate with the work-out you’re getting at the moment. High blood pressure can occur when you eat a lot fried food without exercising. This is where soul food comes in at, it may look and smell delicious, but it will turn into the complete opposite once it enters your body. I was once told four years ago that pork plays a major part in high blood pressure also. From that day on, I never ate pork again because; I had realized that I needed to stay healthier. Heart attacks are another concern when healthy eating and exercise are not performed. I recently read in the newspaper about an overweight man having a heart attack from eating a triple cheeseburger with more than 7,000 calories. I seriously thought it was a joke, because the name of the restaurant was “Heart Attack Grill” and a man actually did have a heart attack inside their restaurant. Thank God he survived, but is it really that…...

It also includes appropriate meal schedules and serving times, dining atmosphere, food/beverage consumption in the classroom, food and beverage fund-raisers, availability of and access to vending machines, behaviors role-modeled by staff, nutrition education at school, physical activity, and generally the messages about eating and physical activity that students receive at school. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), in collaboration with many national nutrition and school organizations, identified six components of a healthy school nutrition environment. Each one is important and affects the nutrition and physical activity in a child’s school life. Healthy eating and physical activity are essential for students to achieve their full academic and physical potential, mental growth, and lifelong health and well-being. Schools influence students’ eating and physical activity patterns. In a school committed to a healthy nutrition environment, every member of the education team makes nutrition and physical activity top priorities every day. The hectic lifestyle of most families in the United States relies heavily on fast foods and leaves little time for regular physical activity. Such lifestyles have significantly affected the health of our nation’s children. Many students arrive at school with empty stomachs, while others sip sodas and munch on high fat foods ...

...Healthy Eating Chris Williams Com/172 10/27/2014 University of Phoenix Healthy Eating A person who eats a healthier diet or improves their diet will have less risk of getting type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and certain types of cancers. A person who is obese has an increased chance to becoming type 2 diabetic. When a person eats healthier, their chances of becoming obese are slim. Reducing their weight by 5-7 percent can greatly reduce the chances of developing diabetes ("The Facts about Diabetes: A Leading Cause of Death in the U.S.", N.D.). To reduce your risk of heart disease, a person needs to have control over their cholesterol, blood pressure, and weight. Eating a healthy balanced diet can help a person achieve this. It also reduces a person’s chance at having a stroke ("Nutrition’s Role in Disease Prevention", N.D.). It is shocking to know even a healthy diet can prevent cancer. With obesity being at an all-time high in America, and causing a lot of health problems, people are not eating healthy as they should. The result of this is people catching diseases like diabetes, having strokes and heart failure from clog arteries. Let’s not forget Cancer. The reason for this is that the body is lacking all of the vitamins and minerals and other nutrients that comes from healthy eating, and not to mention key ingredients that can ward off cancer. By consuming a healthier diet you can reduce the risk of developing many different types of cancer to include; uteral,...
