Holy Cow! In today’s world the issue of meat eating raises a lot of controversial questions. Many people believe that human intelligence should guide us to forbid from killing animals. This belief is far from my opinion. I was raised in an omnivore family. My father eats over five kilograms of meat every day. He’s strong and healthy. I find it funny how depressed he sometimes gets when he comes home from work and sees that mom made a soup for dinner. It seems like he’s closer to the primitive caveman than any modern human can still be, and this leads me to think that forbidding of meat eating is just as unethical as, some may think, eating it is. Humans are carnivores designed to eat meat. The evidence of thorough research proves that the human body is more of the carnivore than herbivore. The length of our digestive tract is similar to carnivores’. Our stomachs produce hydrochloric acid that breaks down a variety of food by activating protein-splitting enzymes. The HCL is nowhere to be found in herbivores’ organisms. Also, the presence of the multiple stomachs declares a tremendous difference between us and herbivores. These few and a lot more differences destroy the popular claim that people should follow a non-meat diet. The answer to what we should eat is deeply encoded in the structure of our bodies (Comparison Between). The studies also show that going back to Stone Age nutritional habits can be very beneficial. Dr. Staffan Lindeberg, an expert in this field, proved one of its advantages in his research in 2007 on people with type 2 diabetes. Among people who were put on a Stone Age diet and those who were on Mediterranean diet (mostly fruits and vegetables) for the duration of three months, 26 percent drop of blood sugar was noticed in the Hunter-Gatherer eaters (Eat like a Hunter). “The evolution hasn’t been going on for long enough to adjust human’s…...

...What is the current situation facing the brand and company? The Bel Brand in the United States is a subsidiary of Fromageries, a family-owned cheese maker. The flag ship company in the USA is, “The Laughing Cow”. This cheese is a cream cheese brand. In 2003, this company had strong sales in the United States because of its association with the South Beach Diet. (Kellogg School of Management, 2012, pg 1) The South Beach Diet was a popular low carbohydrate diet for losing weight. However, as the craze for the low carbohydrate diet diminished so did the sales for The Laughing Cow brand? Ann Legan, the marketing director of Bel Brand USA called a meeting and discussed and debated with her team whether the product’s position needed to be changed? (Kellogg School of Management, 2012, pg 1)They debated if the brand should give up its healthy-snack position in the United States in favor of the family-focused positioning globally. She discussed three alternatives in the meeting. The first position was more consistent with the Europeans. The cheese would be positioned in a way to stress family values and meet children’s needs. The second position is to spring off the South Beach Diet and focus on the healthy aspect of the product as a low calorie nutritional snack. The third option is to choose a new position all together. The brand would have its own identity in the United States and will distance itself from the European values and even the emphasis of the brands great taste.......

The Holy Spirit

...The Holy Spirit “…Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.” Ephesians 1:13 (see also 4:30; 2 Cor 1:22) When Jesus went back to His father, He did not abandon us as spiritual orphans in the world. He sent us his Holy Spirit into our lives. The Holy Spirit is the personal presence of God. “…I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.. I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you…” John 14:16-18;16:5-7 (read Acts 2:1-4). The Holy Spirit is one of the three Persons of the Godhead (Matthew 28:19). That means that although the Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father and the Son, He is indeed God (note Peter’s words in Acts 5:3-4 and John’s description of Jesus in John 1:1-2). All three Persons are actively involved in the process of salvation, as shown in the scripture: “For through [Jesus] we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” Ephesians 2:18 THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT “We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.” 1 John 4:13 The Holy Spirit is God’s gift to every believer. When a person personally receives Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit comes to live on the inside, imparting spiritual life. “Peter replied, “Repent and be......

Purple Cow

...Purple Cow Examples: Italian Butcher, Otis elevator, Lady Gaga, Apple. The lesson is simple – boring always leads to failure. Boring is always the most risky strategy. Smart businesspeople realize this, and work to minimize (but not eliminate) the risk from the process. They know that sometimes it’s not going to work, but they accept the fact that that’s okay. The opposite of remarkable is very good. NEW MARKETING: Create remarkable products that the right people seek out. The more intransigent the market, The more crowded the marketplace, The more busier are the customers, The more we need a Purple Cow. INNOVATIVE: Unique, Take a chance, Be the purple cow, Take risks The challenge is to do two things simultaneously: Milk the Purple Cow for everything its worth. Figure out how to extend it and profit from it for as long as possible. Cannabalistic Cows

... Cannibalistic Cows Micah Bittner June 10th, 2012 Professor Norton DeVry University Cannibalistic Cows America’s diet is in a great dilemma. Just ask anyone where their food comes from, and they will usually say that it comes from the grocery store. However, one might ask where the food in the grocery store comes from. To gain a better understanding of the issues facing American’s eating habits and where its food comes from, Michael Pollen researches these questions in his book, The Omnivores Dilemma. Through his research, he notes that the 100 million head of cattle breed for food are living on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (C.A.F.O.) are fed slaughtered cow parts. As a nation, we need to educate consumers on the dangers of consuming corn fed beef, begin pushing for agri-business policy change from the top down, and partake in the benefits of eating healthier meat; if these changes are not implemented soon healthcare rates will soar, along with e Coli and outbreaks of other diseases associated with processing infected beef. The main problems with eating corn fed beef are the dangerous health risks and hidden costs that are passed down to the public. Associated with these problems are the government policies that prevent change. Continuing to ignore these problems will result in increased obesity, heart disease, and other ailments; as well as economic troubles for those in agriculture, business, and consumers. However, if we properly educate people on......

Mad Cow

...What are Prions and their role? Prions are the proteins that cause Mad Cow Disease also known as BSE. Prions are an infectious protein. Prions are defined as an proteinaceous infectious particle, the protein is capable of changing the conformation of proteins to match its own and becomes infectious without the use of genetic materials. They can cross between species such as cattle, and sheep. Extreme heats chemical agents can inactivate the proteins. Prions are naturally occurring in the body and are not considered foreign nor do they stimulate the immune system and will not hurt your body, however the disease causing prions contact the normal prions by physical contact and alter the normal prions therefore causing the disease. With Mad Cow Disease The Prions target the specific protein in the cell that is normal called PrPC The role of protein Misfolding in BSE Diseased proteins result from improper folding and therefore the misfolded proteins induces copies of the same protein to also again misfold and increases the disease progress when it is misfolded. The scrapie prion PrPsc contacts and bumps into the normal cellular form PrPc intermediate and shifts the folding process converting them to the misfolded prion (the sheep version of mad cow disease called the PrPsc prion). The process continues over and over again. The body continues producing the normal cell PrPc and the scrapie prion PrPsc continues creating more replications of itself without needing any nucleic...

Holy Spirit

...The “Person” of the Holy Spirit Of the three “persons” to the concept of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit is often shrouded in more mystery than the other two. While the person of God the “Father” as the creator and sustainer of creation is well established in the scripture and the history of Judaism and Christianity, and while the person of Jesus the “Son” as an actual person in the course of human history is well documented in history and scripture, the person of the Holy Spirit is a person whose characteristics are not well defined. While the responsibilities of the Holy Spirit are often documented throughout scripture, the question of how to address the Holy Spirit is sometimes vague. While there is plenty of scriptural attestation to the Holy Spirit, and while Jesus does use personal pronouns to describe the Holy Spirit, the modern depictions of the Spirit are often amorphous, lacking definition, and sometimes even pictures that do not infer personhood as much as substance, such as depictions of the Holy Spirit as a, “tounge of fire.” Some theologians have pointed to the scripture to attest to the personhood of the Holy Spirit in the same way as Jesus and the Father (with some scripture point to personal pronouns such as “he”) while others are more concerned with the function of the Holy Spirit rather than the form. This begs the question as to whether or not it truly matters what the Holy Spirit is rather than who the Holy Spirit is. The Holy Spirit is first......

By focusing on customers rather than competitors, a company can uncover differences among market segments and design products and marketing programs that create value for buyers in specific segments. Because customer-oriented companies have a clear understanding of customer needs, they may compete based on meaningful differentiation, not bells and whistles. For example, Pacer could meet the needs of many runners by offering models that help correct pronation or that protect tender knees or backs, as well as models for the competitive runner who needs a basic, well-made shoe.......

The Cow Book Report

...[pic] “THE COW” BOOK REPORT TANYA ROJAS PÉREZ PROFESSOR: ARIEL VARGAS VÍNDAS JUNE 3rd, 2016 The story of “La Vaca” is a story about how to get rid of those habits, excuses and beliefs that keep us bound to mediocrity. The book begins with a story of a family with eight members living in the state of poverty in a small village in the middle of a vacant lot. All they had was an old house about to collapse and a cow, which gave them poor but nutrient milk. That cow was all that separated them from the absolute misery. One day the cow dies and the family was left with nothing, in total ruin. After that tragic moment, their luck began to change, and they themselves decided to change. First they cleared the space in their house and harvesting vegetables and then selling them to neighbors and even a market place. The family’s income started to increase and they started to dressed better, they fixed their house and they realized that their life could change, even with no cow around. Through its nine chapters, the book gives us clear and concrete examples of people that were holding on to “cows”, which symbolize fears, negative thoughts and comfort zone, and how they came to realize that they could overcome these “cows” and achieve success. Each and every one of us have cows in our lives. We tow our beliefs that sometimes parents impose to us or we use excuses and justifications that keep us tied to a...

Holy Lives

...Holy Lives If you put a buzzard in a pen six or eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of his ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of ten or twelve feet. Without space to run, as is his habit, he will not even attempt to fly, but will remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. The ordinary bat that flies around at night, a remarkable nimble creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is shuffle around helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. A Bumblebee if dropped into an open tumbler will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exist, until it completely destroys itself. In many ways, there are a lot of people like the buzzard, the bat, and the bee. They are struggling about with all their problems and frustrations, trials and tribulations, heart-breaks and head-aches...stressed out, strung out and on the verge of giving out, not realizing that the power of God to withstand every situation is inherent within you and the answer to life's most difficult problems is just above you........
