Kobe Bryant

...Kobe Bryant is my favorite player in the NBA, and also my favorite athlete in all of sports. His career is getting close to being done, but he still continues to play at a superstar level. Kobe has played over forty five thousand minutes in his career, so it’s amazing how can continue to play at such a high level with all those miles on his body. He suffered his first major injury of his career a few weeks ago against the Golden State Warriors. He tore his Achilles tendon, and had surgery to repair it the next day. That injury forced Kobe to miss this seasons playoffs. He is expected to return in the next six to nine months. I don’t remember why or how I started to like Kobe Bryant, I just know I have been a fan of his ever since I can remember. Kobe Bryant was drafted sixteenth overall in 1996 by the Charlotte Hornets, and was then traded to the Los Angels Lakers on draft day. He won the slam dunk contest as a rookie. Just four years into his career. Kobe and Shaquille O’Neal teamed up to win three straight NBA championships. After losing in the NBA Finals in 2004, the Lakers traded Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe became the cornerstone for the Lakers. In 2006, Bryant scored a career-high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors, the second most points scored in a single game in NBA history. In 2008, Kobe won the NBA most valuable player award. After losing in the 2008 NBA Finals, Kobe led the Lakers to two consecutive championships in 2009 and 2010, earning the NBA Finals MVP......

Kobe vs. Lebron

...Kobe vs. Lebron Two of the most polarizing figures in the NBA today are Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. Kobe Bryant and Lebron James come on the top of the list just because of their remarkable performances and their achievements throughout their careers. They both have started their sports career from the school age and then they excelled in their respective sports of basketball. Kobe Bryant plays as a shooting guard for the Los Angeles Lakers and Lebron James plays for the Miami Heat. Lebron James also referred as a “King James” just because of his moves and his utmost versatility in basketball, while Kobe is referred to as the “Black Mamba”. Although they may seem to be alike the two are very different in their own respects. For instance, both players have the ability to score the ball. Kobe is a natural born scorer; many call him one of the greatest offensive players to ever play the game. Kobe averages nearly 26 points per game over his 17 year pro career; anywhere on the court Kobe is a threat because of his basketball fundamentals and ability to score from anywhere on the court. Lebron on the other hand, is also a good scorer but is not considered to be on the level of Kobe Bryant. Lebron averaging nearly 25 points per game through his career which is not bad, but he is challenged to work extremely hard for his points. However, Lebron in terms of physicality is way above Bryant. Weighing in at 260 pounds of muscle and is listed at the height of 6’9......

Kobe Braynt

...Could you imagine being nineteen years old and making five million dollars a year? Kobe Bryant, the son of former NBA player Joe "Jellybean" Bryant, jumped directly from high school to the pros in 1996 and enjoyed an impressive rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers. He also won the Nestle Crunch slam-dunk contest, and was the leading scorer in the Rookie Game during the NBA all-stars Weekend. Kobe Bryant could very well become one of the best basketball players to ever step on a basketball court.   Kobe's parents named him after a type of steak (Kobe) seen on a restaurant menu prior to his birth. This type of steak is very popular in Japan. Bryant is also fluent in Italian. Even though Bryant plays in the NBA, he is still a kid at heart and makes time for playing video games. He has two older sisters, Sharia and Shaya. Bryant was the all-time leading scorer in Southeastern Pennsylvania history with 2,883 points, breaking the marks of NBA legend and Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain (2,359 points) and former St. Joseph's player Carlin Warley (2,441 points). Bryant led his high school team to a 77-13 record in last three seasons and was a four-year starter.   His father, Joe, played eight NBA seasons for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers and Houston Rockets, and is a former assistant coach at La Salle. As a senior at Lower Merion High School, USA Today and Parade Magazine selected Bryant as the National High School Player of the Year. He was also named Naismith......

Lebron James

...“I’ve failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeeded,” is the quote that I choose to open up my This I Believe essay and now I have branched that out into a digital story. My digital story has the songs “Cinema” and “Gotta Have It” and it is about the struggles that Lebron James had to endure in order to get his championship ring. The theme of my digital story and essay is, in retrospect, failure is success. The style of my essay and digital story is anecdotal. The combination of the theme and style in my essay and digital story is what helps incorporate the “So What?” First, already know that the theme of my essay and digital story is, in retrospect, failure is success but now I have to show you how it shown in my pieces. The theme is shown in my essay by the sentence, “The only way to learn how to ride a bike is to fail multiple times and to learn from your mistakes.” This quote from my essay depicts how the them is shown in it by giving and anecdotal explanation on how no matter how many times you might fail, the information that you gather will help you out in the end. The theme is shown in my digital story from the several pictures of Lebron James training after he lost the NBA finals in 2011 and which lead to winning the finals in 2012 because he learned from his mistakes/ failure and he succeeded. Next, you already know that the theme of my essay and digital story is anecdotal but now I have to show you it is shown in my pieces. A quote from my......

His father (Anthony McClelland) didn’t want to father Lebron and left Gloria to raise LeBron on her own. Life wasn’t easy, Gloria had many personal problems, most were brought on her when her mother died when LeBron was an infant. Like most city stories with a boy and his mom, Gloria was never able to get a constant job, forcing them to move from apartment to apartment Though the many struggles they faced, Gloria did her best to protect LeBron from violence and poverty. Sometimes she made the choice of dating, like when she dated Eddie Jackson. Eddie was constantly running from the law and when LeBron was 6 in 1990 he was finally sent to jail for cocaine. But even then LeBron was getting used to a man around the home, along with Gloria. So her brothers Terry and Curt were also around quite often. When LeBron was a child he always showed tremendous instincts in basketball, when he was an infant his mom gave him a little basketball hoop that he would spend hours playing with it. He was also most likely to be very tall and strong, due to Gloria’s relatives who were like that. LeBron’s unusual lifestyle came to affect him when he got in elementary school. It was hard for him to find friends due to his home life. He was always interested in doing well in school but studying he found hard. He took out most his emotions in basketball and Football;......

...other person's life? Maybe or not, but my life was changed by a basketballer, LeBron James. He is like Michael Jordan for many people who love him. He is one of the best basketball player we've ever seen. However, almost nobody likes him for an unknown reason. He played 8 years for Cleveland Cavaliers. He was playing so beautifully in his young ages that he compared with Michael Jordan. Whenever team loses match, everyone blame LeBron James for missing last second clutch shots. He was not ready to taking over the whole team's responsibilities, and his team's members was not prepared enough, too. When the team lost against Boston Celtics in 03-11-2010, criticism over LeBron James was at peak. In the offseason, LeBron James decided to take his talents to South Beach, and joined to Miami Heat. Haters of LeBron came to a climax, but LeBron did not take the notice of them. Miami Heat and LeBron was so adapted each other that they did not lose any game until the Playoffs. They rose to the top, NBA Finals in 2011. Their rival was Dallas Mavericks that did not lost any game also. NBA Finals conqueror was Dallas Mavericks. I got really angry at that situtation. Haters played a jape on Miami Heat, especially LeBron James. But LeBron didn't give up. He started training during the off season with Kevin Durant. He won again fourth Most Valuable Player(MVP) Award in the last five years, and this showed that LeBron James was ready enough to taking over the team's responsibilities. His......

Lebron James

...PR Project 2014 I. Client: LeBron James II. Tactics: “Re-Established 2014” Beats by Dre commercial and “LeBron James’ First Home Game” commercial by Sprite a. The first of the two tactics I am covering is the “Re-Established 2014” Beats by Dre Commercial. The significance of this commercial is that it is advertising the new Wireless Beats, but it is telling a story far beyond the product. In my opinion, LeBron James is the product in this commercial and it directly corresponds to LeBron returning back home, not only to Cleveland, but also to his hometown, Akron. The commercial does this in an emotional way as LeBron returns and revisits Akron. It shows him entering his former High School, the basketball court he built, his mother, his old neighborhood, and the court in which he started playing basketball. b. The second tactic I will cover is the “First Home Game” Sprite commercial starring LeBron as well. This commercial also corresponds with LeBron returning home, but it has its own specific message. James makes a major statement throughout the commercial by making the notion that he was driven by his hometown fans more than anyone to return to Cleveland. During the commercial, LeBron states, ““Where does my thirst come from? It comes from here, from these people, because their passion, their love, drives me. They say home is where your heart is. My heart is here, it’s always been. This is my first home game.” What James is saying is that returning home......

Kobe and Yokohama

...think of Kobe and Yokohama, they would probably find many things in common. Although these two cities are located 700 km away, belong to different cultural sphere, both of two cities have big trading port which make similarities. Yokohama port opened in 1859, which is a bit older than Kobe port. Since then two cities have been following the same history. Kobe and Yokohama were the cities to open for trade with the Western countries following the end of policy of seclusion. These two cities had been contributing to the modernization of Japan. Yokohama port was opened in 1859, eight years older than Kobe port. Being trading port cities and foreign settlements, Kobe and Yokohama have been known as cosmopolitan cities. There are Western styles of buildings, China town, and foreign cemeteries in both of the cities. Now Kobe and Yokohama are popular among young people because they have fashionable atmosphere which enable people to feel as if they were in foreign countries. It can be said that these two cities are remarkably similar. However there are big cultural differences between two cities. Yokohama lies in east part of Japan, which is called “Kanto area”. In contrast, Kobe belongs to “Kansai area”. There are big differences between two worlds such as food, language, fashion, and personality. Kobe is a bit larger than Yokohama city. However, when it comes to population, Yokohama is much greater than Kobe, which means Yokohama is densely populated. Kobe and......

Kobe vs Lebron

...Johnson. Many people think that Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest or they say LeBron James. Which LeBron is just not there in the way Kobe is there now. Kobe Bryant came in the game as a young one he came straight out of high school, just like LeBron James, Kobe was drafted to the charlotte hornets but was traded to the L.A Lakers. Within his first year he was known around the league as a high flyer, also winning the slam dunk contest. Just by this alone Kobe is way ahead of LeBron, but there is more to this story that just meets the eye. Kobe Bryant has set more records than LeBron, but Kobe has been in the league longer than LeBron. Kobe Bryant has also made history scoring more points than wilt chamberlain scoring a one hundred points in a single game, not only that Kobe Bryant has led the league in scoring for number of years. LeBron hasn’t led yet since he has been in the league yeah he can score but not as reliable as Kobe. When these two play it’s the most watched game in the NBA. The one thing that Kobe has that LeBron will never has is a center that knows the game and can score at any time. LeBron only has shooting guards and that is what is really killing LeBron when it comes down to winning. Besides of winning Kobe has got way more rings than LeBron, on top of that he has done it more than one time, and also without a good big man. Kobe Bryant puts the team on his back when the team needs that extra points or that extra stop. Kobe is a team player and......
