ABSTRACT
MBWA is considered the most effective business philosophy to bridge the gap between managers and employees (Peters and Waterman, 1982). It results in boosting employee performance. MBWA is not just a business practice, it is a leadership trait possessed by many great leaders of the past and present. Successful companies like HP, Walmart, Costco, PepsiCo, Disney etc. implement MBWA regularly (Jones, 2003). In order to accomplish boost in employee productivity, managers should know how to implement MBWA. It can result in as stress for employees if not implemented properly. Furthermore, the study elaborates the importance and effectiveness of MBWA for authorities and its implementation ways without making it stressful for employees.
THESIS STATEMENT
In the corporate world, Management by walking around (MBWA) has been successful in boosting employee productivity in a positive work environment.
INTRODUCTION
“Management by Walking Around” is a term introduced by the management guru Tom Peters. According to Peters & Waterman (1982), “MBWA basically refers to managers spending some part of their time listening to problems and ideas of their staff, while wandering around an office or plant”. In the corporate world, Management by walking around (MBWA) has been successful in boosting employee productivity in a positive work environment.
