Question: with the use of motivation theory discuss how Caribbean managers can enhance the motivation of their employees. Provide relevant examples to illustrate your answer.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the use of motivational theories and how they relate and enhance the motivation of employees by managers within the Caribbean.
Motivation is defined as the processes that accounts for an individual’s intensity, direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal. It can either be negative or positive. For instance, positive motivation includes goals or rewards that you will enjoy or feel proud of. Negative motivation is said to occur when you undertake a task out of fear or a desire to avoid a given outcome. On the other hand, Intensity is described as how hard a person tries on a job. Direction is described as what an individual chooses to do when presented with a set of alternatives while Persistence is the continued effort toward a goal even though obstacles may exist. Motivation can therefore be divided into two types; Intrinsic and Extrinsic Motivation.
Intrinsic Motivation means that the individual's motivational stimuli are coming from within. The individual has the desire to perform a specific task, because its results are in accordance with his beliefs or it fulfills a desire and therefore importance is attached to it such as; an individual doing a complicated cross-word puzzle purely for the personal gratification of solving a problem.
However, Extrinsic Motivation means that the individual's motivational stimuli are coming from outside. In other words, the overall desires to perform a task are controlled by an outside source such as receiving trophies, money, social recognition or praise.
