Driving anywhere is better than walking, don’t you think? We all know driving has its negative points while walking is great for our well-being, but most people prefer to drive any day of the week. First, let’s put as an example our jobs. Just thinking about walking to your job at 5:45 a.m. makes us feel real tired. Then, if you add to that walking for 5 days a week plus the roundtrip because you will need to get back to your home at some point, the thought of it just gets worst. At the same time you will be sweating, and sweating a lot! It just doesn’t look right if you get to your job at 7:00 a.m. all sweat and smelling as if you just got out of the gym. What if at the end of your work day you need to do something else? Or if you just crave an ice cream? Well, guess what? You can’t go because it is going to set you off track and is going to be a long walk back home. Meanwhile, if you like driving like the 86% of the population, your life gets a little bit easier. First, you don’t have to wake up as early as if you walk to get where you need to, and as a result you can rest a little more. When you get to your destination you will be fresh and clean, no sweat! Why? Because cars have air conditioner! In addition to that, if you need to do something else at the end of your day, like if you are craving ice cream, want to go to the movies, or just want to drive around, you can do it all because you have a car and prefer driving than walking. As I already said, walking has its benefits for our health and well-being, but when it comes to your life things around us are already very complicated, then why would someone complicate his life more than what it is? If you can do something for your advantage while living this busy life we have, then do it! Once the symptoms of schizophrenia occur, usually beginning in early adult hood, they continue for the entire lifetime of the patient and are almost totally disabling (Sawa & Snyder, 2002). Schizophrenia is a severe psychopathology which is categorized by positive and negative symptoms (Breedlove, Watson & Rosenzweig, 2010). This disorder distorts thoughts and perceptions. It is described as a loss of contact with reality and a disturbance in one's thoughts, perception, mood and movement. This mental disorder starts to become apparent during early adulthood and usually carries on for the rest of an individual's life (Bear, Connors & Paradiso, 2001). Symptoms of schizophrenia can be divided into two categories: Positive and negative. Positive symptoms "reflect the presence of abnormal thoughts and behaviours" (Bear, et al., 2010, p. 695). These symptoms include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech and catatonic behaviours. Positive symptoms may be related to an excessive amount of dopamine function in the brain, such as the use of antipsychotic drugs which are highly effective in treating the positive symptoms of schizophrenia (Iversen, L., Iversen, S., Bloom & Roth, 2009).
