Season I Like Most

...I like summer the most. This may seem Stanger, but it is a fact for me. Let me first narrate the good and the bad sides of the seasons clearly. In summer, the heat becomes oppressive. It causes physical hardship that sometimes become unbearable. We feel easily tired. What with the heat and the sweat and the dust and the flies at times, it is positively maddening. On the other hand, the general health is usually good. The discomforts caused by cold season ailments of digestion, common in the rainy season, practically do not exist in this stern season. Further, the sultry and humid heat of noonday is usually compensated by the refreshing breeze that blows in at about evening. And then a thunder-shower or two brings down the temperature and gives us a pleasant respite. Summer has richer compensations that make it so dear to me. First, there is the mango, the world's wonder-fruit. Next, there is the joy of playing football, the world's most popular game. As soon as the sea-breeze begins to blow across the fields, out we go with our ball, and then there is a joy of having a refreshing bath that follows. It cools the body and soothes the mind. At what season, again, is the sweetness of an ice-cream or a cold drink so deliciously inviting? At night we may sleep under the electric fan or the open sky, refreshed by the breeze. In summer, we can go up a hill-side station or down to a seaside resort and both are equally welcome. Above all, their is the charm of the long......

Well if you ever want to become successful in your future, then it is a MUST that you take public speaking. It is a class that will benefit you for a life time and you will have NO regrets whatsoever taking public speaking. I myself learned a lot in public speaking. I took the class in high school, so I was kind of familiar and comfortable with it. But the high school class wasn’t as in depth as the college course is. I plan on joining the United States Marine Corps this fall. I know for a fact that public speaking will already put me ahead of all the other marines when I join. Most people think Public Speaking only applies to speaking in front of a large audience or a formal speaking type setting. But it doesn’t! Not only has this class helped me speak in front of large audiences, but it has also allowed me to become a better communicator as a person as well. And this is important in our everyday lives as humans. If you don’t learn how to properly communicate with another person then you won’t be very successful in life. This class is one of the key main ingredients when it comes to success in life. This class helped me build my speaking confidence as well. It will teach you principles and techniques that help you mentally when speaking in front of people. I have a buddy who wants to major in business for his college degree and he asked me if a...

The Person I Admire Most

...THE PERSON I ADMIRE MOST Talk about the person that I admire so much, a lot of names run through my mind. My mother, sister and some good friends. I even wanted to write about Shim Changmin, the man that made my eyes pop out and he is my love at first sight among the Korean boy bands. But then , I decided to write about a person whom I admire so much and who has influenced me a lot . she is my best friend from my hometown, Kerteh , Terengganu. Her name is Khairunnisa and everyone calls her NIsa. She is as pretty as her name but she does not seem to realise this or she chooses to ignore it. She has a face that every girl would die for. She has silky soft , white creamy skin. Her sparkling hazel eyes are complemented by dark sooty lashes . Her hair is straight , waist length and lustrous like the models in the Rejoice shampoo advertisement. She is a simple girl but yet other girls are envious of her. Though she is petite, small and slender she is strong willed and matured. It is not her physical appearance that made me admire her. Her personality attracts people like magnets. She is friendly, talks politely to everyone, has a good sense of humour, caring and a good Muslimah. Another good thing about her , she has no time for puppy love. Although she has many good looking suitors flirting with her, my elder brother included, she paid no attention to all of them. Sometimes I wish she had introduced some of the guys to me. However , being a good Muslimah, she stays......

Where Needs Rebranding the Most?

...conclusion that Dover is in need of rebranding the most. Their prominent age group is 60+, this can suggest that the area doesn’t attract the younger/middle ages that tend to work within the secondary and tertiary industry. This means that the business sector is suffering from deprivation and high vacancy numbers which can lead to deindustrialisation. Although Dover have prominent age group of 60+, the crime rate for ‘No. of crimes per 1000’ is at 99 and the ‘No. of burglaries per 1000’ is at 6, these two figures are quite high considering Dover is a rural/sub-urban area, this can suggest people have a lot of time and less to spend. The prominent age of 60+ can explain why the ‘% 5+ A* -C GCSE’s’ is lowest of all areas at 74%, but it could suggest that the educational facilities are poor. Dover’s housing prices were 2nd highest in the list of areas, I presume the housing prices are set from the elderly who have established (owned) houses for a number of years, this means anyone out-migrating into the area will find it difficult to pay for a mortgage and own a house. To conclude, Dover could fall into a vicious cycle of poverty, unless rebranding occurs to attract more business to the area and more people (residents/tourist), but on the other hand the residents may like the idea that it doesn’t attract large business and tourist. From the results I have acquired, I have come to a conclusion that Dover is in need of rebranding the most. Their prominent age group is 60+, this......

In other words, it’s a memory technique to help your brain better encode and recall important information. It’s a simple shortcut that helps us associate the information we want to remember with an image, a sentence, or a word. Popular mnemonic devices include: The Method of Loci The Method of Loci is a mnemonic device that dates back to Ancient Greek times, making it one of the oldest ways of memorizing we know of. First, imagine a place with which you are familiar. For instance, if you use your house, the rooms in your house become the objects of information you need to memorize. You go through a list of words or concepts needing memorization, and associate each word with one of your locations. You should go in order so that you will be able to retrieve all of the information in the future. Acronyms An acrostic is a series of lines from which particular letters (such as the first letters of all lines) from a word or phrase. These can be used as mnemonic devices by taking the first letters of words or names that need to be remembered and developing an acronym or acrostic. For instance, in music, students must remember the order of notes so that they can identify and play the correct note while reading music. The notes of the treble staff are EGBDF. The common acrostic used......

Most Wanted

...Most wanted 14 years old, inundated by sex and with a little sister who has turned into a thief. Your parents are engrossed by other matters, so when finding out about your little sister it starts a long row that continue into the small hours while you’re trying to sleep. The atmosphere at home gets more and more intense and as a crisis with your best friend results in none of you talking to each other, you are suddenly faced with the problem at home all by yourself. This is what the narrator in the British short story “Most Wanted” (2000) by Amanda Coe experiences in her childhood growing up with her little sister and her father and mother. She is almost a grown up, but doesn’t want to be. The short story takes its beginning with a small introduction of the main character and her family’s problems which let us know, that it is in the past. It takes place in Mrs. Church’s house and in the main characters house, which, judging by the fact that the father has to pick up Michelle in car from Mrs. Church’s house must not be close to each other. The exact location however remains unknown. It is indicated that the family is of a middle class. They live in a two floor house, both the children go to school and Michelle has lent some books from the Millbank Junior library. Furthermore does the invitation for tea indicate a higher upper class: “Mom suggested that Alison Church should be invited for tea” (ll.31-32). The 14-year-old narrator’s personality develops throughout the......
