P3 Describe how the environment and culture of another country affects a business operating internationally

I am going to discuss how the environment and culture of India and China affect businesses operating internationally. I am going to use Tesco as an example.
Environment: Both India and China have been named as countries with the highest expected growth in the next 50 years. India population – 1.1 billion, 1.3 billion. India is democratic, China is communist. (Businesses in India have freedom of speech and the way they operate their business while business operations in China are very limited by the Government) China is strong in manufacturing while India is strong in services and Information Technology. Strengths of China = Weaknesses of India
Infrastructure in India: India’s road network is a barrier to business operations and has been holding industry back which is a challenge that Tesco would come across with if deciding to expand in India as it would make imports into India much more difficult, time and cost consuming. However Indian government has made it a priority to improve the country’s infrastructure and has pledged to build 14km of new roads in the nearer future.
Infrastructure in China: China’s infrastructure is top class – one of the best in the world. China spends almost 50% of its GDP on investment towards their infrastructure which include; roads, bridges, trains, ports, technology etc. China has currently approved an estimated $156 billion dollar investment on more infrastructure projects for the country. This would be a major advantage for Tesco, if they want to expand to China, as it means that if Tesco wants to import goods into China, it will be easier.
Inflation in India: Inflation in India has reached 6.5% while in the rest of the world it reached an average of 2.2%. People in India will therefore be spending less and saving more…...

...​The 2005 documentary “39 Pounds of Love” follows Ami Ankilewitz of Israel on a journey across the United States. Ankilewitz is determined to attain his persistent desire of finding Dr. Albert Cordova, who incorrectly diagnosed Ankilewitz with muscular dystrophy and gave him only five years to live. Ankilewitz was born in Texas in 1970. After noticing her son was playing and interacting differently than other children his age, Ankilewitz’s mother took him to be evaluated. There she was told her precious child would not live even to his teen years. As the movie shows, 39-pound Ankilewitz (who is now 34 years old and correctly diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy) began using a wheelchair and microphone to assist in his daily living. Ankilewitz only has the use of one finger on one hand, thus he also has the help of a full-time caretaker. He does not allow any of this to get in his way. He is a tattooed 3D animator who enjoys partying. Upon finally meeting him, Ankilewitz tells Dr. Cordova that science is not able to take into account what having a passionate life is able to do for the human body. Thus doctors should not put a time limit on life. The 39 Steps

...The 39 Steps Response Paper The 39 Steps is the first play that I saw from the School of Arts and Sciences at Ohio University. It was adapted from the novel written by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Hitchcock. The story is about an English man named Richard Hannay, who is plunged into international espionage after meeting a beautiful Russian woman spy in a theatre. After she tells her secrets and mentions the 39 steps to Hannay, she gets injured and finally dies in his house. He is charged with the crime of murder, so he runs away but at the same time tries to find the Professor and the meaning of the 39 steps. On his journey, he stays in a shepherd’s cottage and the wife of shepherd helps him escape. Then he meets a woman named Pamela. After being cuffed together, they escape from fake police chasing after them and find a hotel to stay. Soon, they have feelings for each other. Eventually, Richard Hannay kills the Professor in a gunfight and he marries Pamela. They live a happy life ever after. The play is hilarious. There are many hilarious dialogues and creative performances. I think the most exciting part of the play is there are only four actors in the play.
