Chapter 5 Summary Drawing
Art-111-LOA
Chapter Summary

While reading chapter 5, I learned about drawings. On p (105) it gives the definition of the word drawing “a drawing is a result of an implement running over a surface and leaving some trace of gesture. When you are creating a drawing the surface or the support of the drawing can be two-dimensional are monochromatic which is paper or parchment. Although paper is the most common surface of a drawing you can also use other surfaces to make a drawing such as; burned wood to burned paper, bristle brushes dipped in ink to gunpowder ignited by a fuse, or the use of colored chalks, pastel, wax crayons. The idea of using colored, chalks really caught my attention while reading about the different types of implements, the reason I have this interest is because of my real life encounter with and artist that uses this method. My encounter start when my family and I decide to celebrate the 4th of July by taking a trip to the Waterfront located in Wilmington N.C. While we were walking along the city we noticed a guy drawing something on the ground there was a crowd around him so we when to investigate. The man was making beautiful images from drawing on the concrete using colored chalk. Looking at his creative style gave me more appreciation for drawing and it aroused my mind to think outside of the box when one is making drawings. In this chapter it also talks about the categories of drawings, these categories are; Sketches that record an idea or provide information about something that artist has seen, Plans or preparatory, Studies for other projects and fully developed and autonomous work of art. The materials in which drawings use or divided into two major groups “Dry mediums and Fluid mediums”. One of the oldest mediums used in the Middle Ages to early 1500’s are silverpoints. Silverpoint drawings are created…...

Arts 125 Week 1

...Pop Culture and The Arts Reflection ARTS 125 Pop Culture and The Arts Reflection The principle idea of this paper is to explore my opinions of Pop Culture and the Arts. Art to me is anything that can be pleasing to the eye and something that I can enjoy in my own way. Culture refers to how I was brought up. As with any expressions art can be a picture, painting, photograph, music, or a sculpture. Anything that one’s mind can create that they appreciate can be considered art. Looking at art one can see it in books, magazines, museums, on walls of buildings, or on someone’s lawn. Art is defined as the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance (Dictionary, 2012). Some of our most revered American’s brought us the visual aspects of different forms of art. Norman Rockwell posted many of the most famous painting by an American in The Saturday Evening Post. One of his most illustrious paintings was “Rosie The Riveter” that spawned a revolution for women in the workplace taking over job’s dominated by men called off to war. There have been many others who have influenced art in America. Grandma Moses, who started painting as a very late stage in her life painted country scene setting and about farm life, Andy Warhol, who is most famous for painting Campbell’s Soup cans (Mofitt, 2007). Frederic Remington for his depictions of the Old American West in the late 19th century...

Art touches and affects people in unique ways; it can have special or unusual meaning on the person depending on how one views it. Two people looking at the same painting, sculpture, portrait, or photo may come to different views on the arts meaning even though they are looking at the same item. Art is how one interprets it and what that person sees. In today’s society art is done in so many other forms and diverse categories. This essay will concentrate and bring together four art forms, photojournalism, painting, architecture, and sculpture. The in-depth examination of the subsequent arts will be concentrated to the following: The influence of technology on the evolution of each of the art forms: architecture, photography, sculpture, and painting. Art 101 Week Checkpoint

...Art 101 Week 8 Checkpoint Comparison of Three Sculptures Art is heavily influenced by the culture in which it was produced. As the three versions of David make evident, one person or object will be represented in different ways depending on the environment of its portrayer. In examining the sculptures of David created by Donatello, Michelangelo, and Bernini I can see that art is not only influenced by an artist’s surroundings, but because of popular styles of the era. Donatello’s and Michelangelo’s David are similar in many ways. Both sculptures being from the Renaissance, they share some characteristics in form. Each artist positioned the body of David in the contrapposto position. Their bodies are curved, relaxed and shown in the nude. This reflects the popular style of sculpture of the culture and relates the ideas about the human form. Donatello’s David is different from Michelangelo’s most in the physical attributes of the body. Michelangelo’s David has more of the sculpted bodies of the Greek gods. The sculpture is muscular, mature and his physical beauty is not to be overlooked at. Donatello’s David has the body of a young man still developing into his body. Instead of appearing strong and confident, David appears to have a young boy facing a task much harder and larger than him. Bernini’s David has the shape of a human body in motion. He is strong like Michelangelo’s David and appears to be ready......

Week 5

...Week 5 Internet Service providers Ashour, Kalled Week 5 Internet Service providers Ashour, Kalled 2014 2014 Internet Service Providers In Denver Colorado, there are only two main options for personal home internet service. You can either get broadband through Comcast, or DSL through Century Link. Both have their positives and negatives, and both are around the same price. Comcast is 39.99 a month, for broadband internet service. While Century Link is $29.95 a month for DSL service. I personally have DSL though Century Link as I think that their customer service is much better than Comcast. Century Link provides packages of 1.5, 7, 12, 20 and 40Mbp/s connections, though all of them are the same price. I personally have the 40Mbp/s connection and pay $30 a month for the service. The router they provide has wireless capability and has suited all of my needs. Century Link has been running a campaign that they will be installing a full fiber optic system in the Denver area over the next year. So their speeds will be increasing in order to compete with Comcast. Comcast provides up to 50Mb/s for $40 a month, on a dedicated broadband line. Meaning that you should always have 50Mb/s no matter the time of day. They do offer more expensive plans with higher bandwidth, such as 105Mb/s for $45 a month. This is where Comcast has a clear advantage over Century Link. They can offer much higher speeds for just $15 more a month. They also have plans that package HBO and......

Week 5

...week 5 Describe the neuroanatomy of and neural processes related to learning based on current literature. There is a subtle difference between learning and memory whereas learning is the process by which in one’s mind there is an incorporation of new information and abilities and memory is the way in which the mind stores the information and abilities. There is a great importance from the outset that there are many kinds of memory such as procedural memory. Procedural memory is the process of remembering how to do certain things. Declarative memory is another memory where one can remember actual semantic information. These two memories are often unrelated in many instances. A prime example of these two memories would be a basketball player may have the perfect three point shot, but does not need to be fully aware of the physics that goes into shooting a three-pointer because procedural memory comes into play. To some extent this describes the difference between declarative and procedural memory. Even though that they are totally different form one another they both are a kind of memory. You can describe learning as a process in which experiences are incorporates into a person’s memory. This definition can be broad and encompasses not only the most traditional type of learning such as school learning. Learning can also be described as people forming memories of significant events that have occurred in the past. However, biologically, learning encompasses all of these......
