Why Is a Degree for Me

...Why is a degree for me? It is crazy how important it is to have a degree and on the job experience in our modern day society. Twenty or thirty years ago it was all about who you knew or how fast you could develop the skills required to compete in the industry in which you wanted to pursue a career. Technology is advancing in all fields whether it is the medical, logistical, agricultural, or communications; almost everything requires an education. In order for me to support myself and a family comfortably in the future I have decided that a degree is the right thing for me. Obtaining a college degree will require many hours of studying and learning different methods in which best suit you to obtain and withhold knowledge. According to a recent study that I participated in; one of my learning styles is being a sensing learner (Felder & Soloman, n.d.). This would imply that I like to learn from the facts and that I am careful and practical when coming to solutions or conclusions. Also sensing learners are not keen on courses that don’t have a direct connection with the real world. In the other study that I partook in, the results showed that I was a visual learner (Penn State, 2010). This means that I learn best from visual aides whether its pictures, diagrams, charts, timelines, demonstrations, or videos. Many people are visual learners due to the teaching criteria throughout school prior to college. This is unfortunate; because many colleges do not use much......

Why College Is Important to Me.

...AC1303130 EN110 Achieving Academic Excellence Writing Assessment 5_11 9 June 2013 “Why college education is important to me” “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”(Benjamin Franklin) As a child I struggled my way through school. I was never a straight “A” student, but I always pushed myself. I graduated from high school and went on to my first year of college. Completed that year and got married and had kids. Now many years later here I am back in school. I have grown a lot over the years. When I look back I regret not finishing school at that time, in life I don’t want to have any regrets. The early childhood profession is not for the faint of heart or the passive individual. (Josue Cruz Jr. 2008) As a mother of three I am used to being with kids and how tough it can be. So when I kind of stumbled upon my job I wasn’t sure if it was truly for me, but I decided go for it. I remember walking into the infant room my first day of work and jumping right in, at the end of the day I came home and told my husband. “I’m meant for this. This is what I want to do.” Now a few months later I am enrolled in college to achieve my degree in Early Childhood Education. So when asked why college education is important to me. First and foremost my strongest push is me. I want to do this for myself. Show myself even if I struggle I can do this. I do this for my children and my husband. We are a military family and have moved all over the place and I’ve always stayed home......

Education is the process of gaining knowledge which provides both power and freedom. Nelson Mandela said in his speech lighting your way to a better future, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” (Mandela, 2003) The world has so much to offer, that I cannot pick just one specific career. I hope someday that my ambitious path will benefit not only myself, but my community and other countries. My goals are to become an SSI scuba diver instructor, a business owner, an accountant, and much more. Why - Me

...Engelsk aflevering til den 8 feb. 2010 Why? Last summer, I went to London for the first time in my life, I was so excited. My dad and mom drove me to the airport, I thought the drive was so long that day, I had arranged with my best friend that we would meet at the airport at 7 o’clock in the morning, because our flight left at 11 o’clock and we had to check in 2 hours before boarding. We arrived, at our hotel at about 4 o’clock, we decided to unpack our things and after that we went out to eat, we ate at this big fancy restaurant and it tasted like something, I had never tasted before. We spend the rest of the day walking around in London. We had so much fun, shopping all day and then we got drunk at night, and experienced London’s nightlife. One of the biggest things I wished to do was, to see a musical, and I did see one, it was on our last night and I’m so glad I did, we saw “The sound of music”. It is one of the things you have to go to, when you are in London, it was so great I still today 1 year after, remember how the atmosphere was in the big hall, it is something you must experience. That night I couldn’t sleep I was having a nightmare I felt that something wasn’t how I was supposed to be. Before we went to the airport the last day, we went shopping, because I wanted to give my parents a gift, when I was going to meet them at the airport in Denmark. Why Education Is Important to Me.

...Why college education is important to me By Coleman Rickels College education is essential to me for my advancement in my career field. It is nessesary for me to aquire a degree in my field to recieve a promotion into a managment position. I have chosen construction managment because I am currently employed in the construstion field as a laborer and would like to advance in that career and become a manager in the same field. I love construction, I enjoy getting up early in the morning and meeting my crew at our yard. I enjoy the ride to the job site with the people I will be spending my day with. I like conversing with them and learning more about them every day. I enjoy getting to the jobsite, warming up the equipment, and gathering all the tools we will need to complete the days tasks. I enjoy working throughout the day and working with each other to achieve the set goals for the day. I enjoy coming upon a problem and having to put our minds together to overcome it and resume work. I believe aquiring this degree will open up a new side of the construction field for me. I would like to move into a management position and find new things about the construction field I enjoy doing. As John F. Kenedy said; “Let us think of Education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and the greater strength of our nation”. I believe that earning this......

Why Is College Important to Me

...Why college education is important to me To survive in today’s military, education is a necessity. Eric Hoffer wrote “In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists”. Continuing my education is not just beneficial for professional survival, but plays a vital role in my success and the advancement of my goals. As military culture progresses, education must progress as well. This culture is changing at a rapid pace, making continuous education a necessity for promotion and career longevity. Persons who are well-rounded in both their military and civilian education are viewed as having the skills necessary to survive and thrive in this ever-changing environment. The pursuit and effective application of continuous education is essential to individual success. My career so far has been filled with mandatory classes and courses designed to make me more effective on the battlefield. It is only recently that I have been able to make the shift to educational pursuits that will also benefit me after my military life is over. I never really gave much thought as to what I would do when I got out of the Army. As I draw nearer to the end of my military career I know that a college education will be the difference that makes me desirable to potential employers. What was known or used in the past may be out of date or no longer relevant. Technologies are constantly......

Why College Is Important to Me

...Why College Is Important To Me There are so many reasons why college is important to me. However, the two most important reasons why college is important to me is that I want to be a role model for my two daughters. Secondly, furthering my education can mean a many great opportunities for advancing in my career and in life. Leading or setting the example for my daughters is very important to me. By actively portraying to my daughters the importance of having a college education after high school, they will engage into participating in a plethora of new opportunities in their own lives which will enhance their way of living. They see how hard I study and how important my grades are to me that it encourages them to do the same in their high school studies now. They actively partake in my studies now, which in turn, results in them asking me questions on what I am studying. Having them involved is having them engaged in their own thought processes. If I have done that for them then I feel like I am doing my job as a Mother. I encourage them to follow in my footsteps so that they can have a better life for themselves. The second reason college is so important to me is the fact it will change my way of life. Studies show that a college education leads to better paying careers and/or advancements in a career. Having a better paying career will give me the opportunity to pay to further my daughters’ college education. It will allow me to advance in my career now...

Why Collge Is Important to Me

...                                      Why College is Important to Me College is important to me for a couple of reasons. The reasons that going to college are important to me are so that I can prove to myself that I am capable of completing something as challenging as college and to show my children that no matter how long it takes, you can complete your goals and dreams. At the age of sixteen I dropped out of high school. I was not being challenged, the work was boring and the drama of high school was more than I wanted to be a part of. I had dreams of becoming a model and someday having a family. I began working immediately and was very happy. At the age of 18, I became pregnant and got married and soon had two children. I don’t believe that I am a typical college student, most students are looking to further their career or make more money; to find that new career. For me, it’s not about a new job or more money, but a sense of personal accomplishment and a desire to be an example to my kids. College View advises “more than ever, attending college provides opportunities for graduates which are not as widespread to those who have not received a higher education.” I didn’t believe that a college education was important. I thought that having a job, being a mom and being a functioning part of the society was enough. Until now, it was. I now have four children and each of them are starting their futures with a college education. I want to teach my children how......
